A week out of surgery and sharp pain on my left side
Hi all,
I may have done too much activity yesterday and developed a sharp pain pretty close to one of my incisions. It feels internal and it feel like its pinching. I called my doctor and I have an appointment on Thursday. I was doing so well in recovery too, but this has definitely slowed me down.
Has anybody else experienced sharp pain around a week out of surgery that might or might not be associated with the incision. The incision itself does not look irritated and I don't have a fever either.
Any insights or ideas would be appreciated.

I remember having the same pain under that incision and wondering if I had torn something. But the incision never became red or hot or inflamed, so the doctor said not to worry. That same incision kept me from sleeping on my side/stomach for 5 long weeks, but it did finally get better. People kept telling me it would get better, but I worried anyway. Try not to; if there is something wrong, you will be able to tell by how it looks.
I hope this helps a bit and proves to be the same for you, nancy

This is helpful. Thanks for posting. My mind is really good at running away with worst case scenarios and what you described is exactly what I am experiencing. The incision looks fine, nothing is inflamed, I just have sharp pain whenever I move. I do see my surgeon tomorrow so hopefully more will be known then. Thanks again!
