Me and my 11 year old daughter will be going to Whittier area next month and need some fun but really cheap ideas of things to do. I haven't lived in California in 19 years and so much as changed. I would really appreciate some ideas!!

Thanks so much!

Kids love the Aboretum in Arcadia. It is full of flowers and grass and waterfalls, but the best thing is the pea****s who wander around. You can bring in unpopped popping corn, and they will eat right out of your hand. I still love it there. Of course, we have beaches and mountains which are free, and there is an American Girl Doll store at the Grove in Los Angeles. The area around there is great - Farmers Market is still old and fun and a cheap place to eat lunch. Whittier Narrows is a great big park near you.

Hope this helps a bit. nancy

Walk the greenbelt (it used to be train tracks) that runs right through Whittier, scenic and FREE!!
Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."

Whittier is only about 20 - 30 mins. from the beach - cheap, easy, and so much fun.  Seal Beach is literally about 20 mins away.
