Intro to Cali Board :)
My Name is Jackie and I grew up in Long Beach, but live in Burbank at the moment, maybe soon to go back to Long Beach. Ive been reading the boards for awhile but now Im ready to get involved.
I had a date set for my RNY for July 2nd, but during the pre-op tests, found I had kidney stones and so tomorrow I have surgery to insert a stent in the tube between my bladder and kidney then they are gonna blast them so hopefully all goes well and they leave the body properly.
So I had to postpone my RNY date to July 16th which is the day before my 40th bday so I guess I'll be going home on my bday for a liquid celebration :) I didn't want to be in the hospital on my bday but hey.. Im looking at it positively. A new year, a new life!
You all seem like a great group and can't wait to get to know you all better. If you have a moment, I could use some positive thoughts for the kidney procedure tomorrow.. :)
Thanks!

You have found a wonderful group of supportive people here at OH. You are lucky to be in Long Beach with a bunch of wonderful ladies out there! They have a coffee once a month and do lots of fun things. They have such a close and awesome group out there, you are just going to love it. Good luck on your upcoming surgery and your NEW YOU! I also spent my birthday at home on a liquid diet, but I got a few years on ya, I was 50! lol. Have a wonderful rest of the week and glad you are here.

You will be in my prayers tomorrow as they zap those nasty stones to smitherines! This is just another hoop to jump through to achieve your health goals.

Be gentle with yourself and know that you are in good and caring company.

This is the place to be. Great people that have had a lot of experience to help get you through your Journey. Positive vibes coming your way with your procedure tomorrow. They did that to my Mom last year and everything went fine. God love her, she was 88 at the time. Prayers are flying your way. Good Luck tomorrow.
Hugs & Love,

Karen

I know everything will go fine tomorrow. Its a good thing they do those pre-op test, sometimes we feel fine and don't know until your in pain that something is wrong. Sorta like a mixed blessing. Don't worry about tomorrow.
This board has the best support you will ever know. These women and men have been where you are now. They have a lot to share, especially their friendship.
When I turned 40, last July, is when I decided I wanted to change my life. I was in charge. I wish you luck and support on your journey.
Its great to have you join us. We hope to hear more from you. Would love to get to know you.

Hugs & Friendship Always,
Michelle T.

Hey Jackie welcome to the Cali boards!!! Once you get involved there is no turning back!!!! hehehehehehe!!!!
Good luck with the stent thing tomorrow....kidney stones are a real pain in the ass so to speak....I want to tell you they hurt worse than any gallstone....or labor pains if you ask me!!! You will be happy to have them blasted out of your system!
Having the wls will not only change your eating habits, but your water consumption habits and will hopefull aleviate any further potential of your body forming them! I know myself that I have not had any problems with them since I had surgery almost 7 years ago.
Spending your birthday on liquids is not a bad thing...it is a rebirth so to speak. I was 10 days out when I turned 48 and watched everyone eat, drink and be merrier....it was hard, but I did get to blow the candles out on my cake that I did not eat! Could make everyone else suffer and as any good Italian mommy....I want to see everyone eat!!!
Good luck!
