Sooo...We know people who get PS and WLS done in Mexico (TJ).  Just wondering if many of you know people (who are self pay) getting regular dental work done there too.  I just finished a dental implant (and crown)...$3,500.  WOW!!  Just wondering if my wife and I went for dental work there (maybe even WLS lab work too), if it might be worth our time and effort.  Mexico is becoming less and less safe.  My wife speaks Spanish so that helps.  Just talking outloud here, and wondering if many people from the LA and SD areas go to Mexico for dental.  Are there dental packages available too (hotel...to and from the border...ect)?  Would love some imput.  Brian

Hi
I don't know about packages or prices; but I have several friends in my carving group who go to Mexico at least once a year for annual dental work.  They have been going for several years and always seem quite pleased with the outcome.  I can email them for additional info if you would like.

Thanks Nancy, that would be great.  I am sure there are a lot of sunbirds...RVers who go down in the winter to get work done.  Any info would be appreciated.  I'm wondering if any RV networks like the Good Sam Club might have info.  Brian

My husband and I are from Yuma, AZ and The Imperial Valley area of El Centro.  We had been part of "snowbird country" for many many years.  We know dozens of people from over the years who get their dental work done in Algodones (near Yuma) and Mexicali, (near Calexico).  San Yisidro has good offices also.  As a matter of fact, I am in the process of referring my own daughter to a dentist there (Algodones) for her impacted wisdom teeth removal. She has no dental insurance.  You can get referrals thru their local US border city offices.

I had dental work done in Mexico about two years ago. I had to have an upper partial and the price here in the US was REALLY high. (forget exactly what it was)

I went to this dentist having been referred by a friend. www.sdro.com/pacdental/

My friend, her husband & son had previous work done there and all were very satisfied.

I went to the office across the border in Tijuana (if the San Diego office is open now, it wasn't then) Yes, it was kinda scarey the first time since I was not used to going over there but I had my friend with me and trusted her advice. Down a small side street, a staircase between two buildings, a very bare office waiting area. But inside the dental area it was state of the art equipment. Very clean, sterile looking, all new, nice, patient English speaking dentists, explained everything thoroughly, and no pressure to have anything done. I had the two necessary extractions done here at home since my insurance did cover that completely and went back to Mexico for my partial.  It was at least half of the quoted price here in the US. (Hundreds less) They did a beautiful job and I still am completely happy with it.

You might check with these dentists. They were real good about answering my emailed questions back then.

Wow, this is an interesting topic for me. I just found out I need over $12,000 worth of dental work if I got it done in the US, a couple of bridges, crows, caps, the whole shebang. Not sure I will go down to Mexico, but it is worth thinking about.

My parents go to a dentist in Tijuana to get dental work done since the late 80's. They have no problems with their dental work. I have had bad luck with the dental work in Tijuana with their dentist.. I have had permanent fillings & 1 permanent crown put in and within 1 months they both fall out. I am considering getting dentures made, but with my track record I'm afraid something will happen to them and have to return again.
I am considering having my teeth done in Argentina, though I would have to spend 1 month to do all the dental work.
