What Can I take??

Well, I didn't pay attention when this was being discussed when everyone down south was being knocked over by that awful flu/cold bug going around. I just felt sorry for each one who was sufferring; but, now I'm trying to beat off a cold or what I think is the beginnings of one. :-(  My throat started hurting on the flight home from Hawaii (payback for enjoying myself?!!) and I just assumed it was the recycled air in the plane.  But it's now 3 days later and the throat is still scratchy and a dry cough is developing.  I've started taking Zicam but is there any cold meds (ie. Tylenol Cold/Flu) that I can take that might help with the cold symptoms?  Any suggestions will obviously be greatly appreciated!

Hi Nancy, you can take anything with Tylenol in it...just be sure that it doesn't also have aspirin or ibuprophen. I take the Mucinex products and they work really well. Feel better. xoxoxo

Thanks Kat...I'll look into the Mucinex...I've seen their commercials and I'm sure our new Walmart carries it.

Hi Nancy,

I hope you feel better soon fast. I'm a fan of Dayquil / Nyquil liquid gels. I usually take 1/2 the dose (1 capsule instead of 2) and it works really well for me.

Like Katt said, anything is fine as long as it doesn't have asprin or Ibuprofen in it.

Hugs,
Sue

Thanks Sue...was wondering, is there a reason for the gel caps vs the liquid? The liquid goes thru the pouch too quickly? I appreciate your imput ^_^

I use the gel caps for two reasons. The Nyquil Liquid has alcohol in it and the gel caps do not. The second reason is the gel caps are easy to keep onhand. I keep a Dayquil "packet" in my lunch box and one in my desk for just in case.

Hope you're felling better.

Thanks for the good wishes, Barb. ^_^  I intend to be there Saturday unless this thing really grabs ahold.  Only symptoms so far are the scratchy throat and occassional cough.  No sniffles, fever, running nose...the usual cold things...so maybe just the air from the plane?  I hate being sick...so I'm keeping my fingers crossed this all goes away!  On that note, heading for bed LOL

Hey Nancy,

Sorry you are feeling badly.....    I had to wear a mast when we flew down to the cruise ship so I did not get the swine flu.  I have caught the worst colds on airplanes.  It was the week before surgery.

Drink alot of liquids and get rest.  Hope you feel better soon.
