Dehydration and possible stricture

So I finally called the DR about not being able to eat more than a few tablespoons of food a day and not drinking more than 16-24 ounces of water. Some where in my crazy head I thought this was normal at 6 weeks out.

My DR is out of town for several weeks so I ended up talking to the dietitian and his nurse. They both suggested going to the ER for dehydration and a possible stricture

I was wondering if it was OK to just wait till the weekend to go to the ER so I don't have to miss anymore work.

I wouldn't wait. I had a stricture and in three days I was completely blocked.Went to the ER and got fixed up. Had to take extra time off work as well. I felt guilty for that. But my health comes first.

Please go to ER!

Kellie, it is best to get it checked out now rather than later.  I was in denial for 8 weeks and then finally went to ER.  The ER doctor immediately told me that I was severly dehydrated and he called in a GI doctor about a possible stricture.  Within in 12 hours of arriving at the ER, I had several bags of IV and the next morning at 10:00 a.m., I had an ENDO (go down the throat while you are asleep or close to it) and found that I was completely closed.  Didn't feel a thing and was able to drink and eat.  I did have three strictures total.  My last stricture was over a year ago and I am now doing great.  Just don't let the doctor open you up more than 12-15.
Best wishes.

It sure is good C'ING LESS OF ME!

We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names,
& all are different colors....but they

ALL exist very nicely in the same box.

Thanks for all the advise, I am going to the ER this evening, after work. I know it isn't the smartest thing to wait but I really need to work.

If there is a stricture, do they have to cut me back open to correct it? How do they correct it exactly?

I will keep everyone posted.

I had my RNY 11 mos ago and I have been dealing with a stricture for the past 8 months.  Mine still isn't fixed.  I have had to have an endoscopy done 6 times where they go down and try to stretch it out...I keeps on closing.  I hope you don't have a stricture, but if you do.... the endoscopies are not painful and it could take up to 10-15 times sometimes to fix the problem.  Keep us posted,

If you want to talk more in detail...feel free to send me a personal message
