I am just over 2wks post-op and have started experiencing "severe fatigue" and some intermittent difficulty breathing, has anyone experienced anything like this? The fatigue is becoming worse and worse and the simplest things like showering seem to completely wipe me out and some days its sooo hard to even get out of bed and get dressed, I have to take breaks in between. I have also started experiencing some episodes where it feels like its hard to breathe, when I lay down the feeling goes away, but when I stand up it feels like my lungs wont expand all the way!! Any help will be greatly appreciated>

Greetings,

Fatigue is part of recovery, but I would call your surgeon to make sure he/she feels that the things you are experiencing are within their norm.  Are you eating at the levels they want?  Drinking enough fluids and taking your vitamins?  Please call your surgeon or health care professional.

Hugs,
Barb

Hi there
I have to agree with Barb. Call your surgeon...be sure you are getting ALL of your vitamins in, drinking as much water as possible and that you are following your Doc's food intake protocol. (not all doctors/medical centers have the same program).  Your surgeon may tell you to call your family doctor; not all symptoms are WLS related...you may be experiencing something totally unrelated.

I have to agree with everyone else.....You need to call your surgeon right away. It is normal to be a little fatigued and tired after WLS but this sounds pretty extreme and you should be checked. Please call your doctor today and get in to see him / her.

Have a good day.........Rick

Thanks everybody for your input, I just got out of the hospital after 2 days. I was very dehydrated and had an endoscopy which showed I have 2 ulcers. They hurt very badly and I was and still am unable to drink or eat anything without extreme pain...I believe that the fatigue was due to a low potassium level which I had. The fatigue has gotten better, now if I can just get over these ulcers I can start my new life.
