Getting insurance to pay for TT or panni?
Post Date: 7/1/09 7:16 am
Hello all....I wanted to know if anyone here had a tummy tuck or Panni covered through Healthnet HMO? Or know a PS surgeon who takes this insurance.... I'm in California and I know it varys state to state. But I want to research and get all my ducks in a row before I start this next procedure. I heard people say that I have to make a paper trail and have went to the doctors for rashes or complaints about the skin on my stomach...
Any advice is appreciated. Thank you...

I tried to get my TT covered by insurance, and it really was impossible since it was not "severe" enough. With an HMO, I would guess it's even MORE impossible. It would literally have to overlap so much that it is causing rashes, blisters, etc. I also did nursing for awhile, and whenever we had patients wanting to have it covered by insurance, we pretty much would document any symptoms, but the insurance companies are SO not budging. Continue with the papertrail, but again, it is a hard uphill battle, if not, impossible - esp with HMO. Sorry, don't mean to be the bearer of bad news, but just being realistic and talking from experience. I ended up just getting my TT on my own, since my credit was okay at the time, I just went to a plastic surgeon and got it done with medical credit account. Now I just pay a monthly, like a credit card acct.
