New around here!

Hello,

I'm new around the boards and I'm curious about the process.  I have done all the testing that is required for my insurance and Dr Morton's @ Stanfords requirements.  I know this is going to sound maybe silly but, I have not had my consult with Dr Morton yet.  I went to one of his seminars and was very impressed with him and have researched the WLS for over 15 months.  I am so ready for the surgery and was wondering if anyone has done this before there consult, will doctor think I'm getting ahead of the game?  TIA

First of all welcome to the CA board.

I do not know about your Doctor but with mine it helped out that I had all my ducks in a row so to speak. I had all the testing done in advance too. It helped to get a surgery date that much faster.

Good luck with your new journey for a healthier life.

Thanks for the Welcome.

I was hoping for the same thing :) To be able to get approval sooner and then a date asap.

If you don't mind me asking where did you have your surgery done.  I actually live 4+ hours away from stanford but feel more comfortable going to hospital than a clinic that started doing this procedure just a year ago. Thanks again.

Welcome Elvira,

You've come to the right place for support and knowledge and the Cali board has the best folks around.

Like Sue, I had all my testing done prior to my visit with Dr. Rogers at UCSF and he was thrilled and I was booked for surgery the date of my consult.  So not to worry, you'll be pleasantly surprised.  Just make sure your tests are not more than 12 months old when you see the surgeon as he may make you repeat them.

Again welcome, we're glad you're allowing us to be a part of your journey.  We're here for you anytime.

Barb is right,  This is a wonderful place to come for support and to have your questions answered.  I would find a group in your area also that meets for coffee and lunches as it is wonderful to meet these people here on the boards in person.   I did not look where you are from, but there are groups all over CA, I just got back from one in Northern CA and made some awesome friends.

Good luck to you,

Rhonda

Barb and Rhonda,

Thanks so much for the welcome.  I will be attending a support group in my area in a couple of weeks they only meet one a month.  So we will see, I live in northern california about 3+  hours away from San Francisco, so maybe I can find others in the boards from around my area.  Thanks to both.

Welcome Elvira
Yep, you have definitely found the greatest group of people around...always supportative, encouraging and full of answers ^_^ I'm also from No Calif...Sacramento to be exact; I figure you must be either way north or way east of me to be 4hrs from SF.  If you are closer, I can give you a couple of support meetings that meet here in Sacramento and Elk Grove. Just PM me...I can get the info to you. And again..Welcome!
