OT...there's gonna be trouble
So, I'm a stress eater and this is gonna test everything I've been through for the last three years. I called my sister to celebrate my three year surgiversary and she says "You have to go see daddy." This is not good. He's 75 years old and has prostate cancer..
I'm not looking forward to this and it's gonna be really really hard.

Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!

Thanks for your post. They have been treating it but it's not responding or hasn't responded. My sister couldn't give me specifics and she said that my step mom was answering all questions..I will spend time with him. I have to see for myself how bad it is before I decide how bad it is, if that makes sense.
I did make an appointment to get to see him on Saturday. Right now, I have to go through my step mom and it's far easier to go through her than go "over" her, if that also makes sense. I have to be ready to be good and also ready for a fight if there's going to be one..I just have to see if there's going to be a fight...that's probably easier than sadness, for me.

Dawn, I hope things work out well for your dad and for your fight against stress eating. BTW - we are on a Relay For Life team for their Martinez, CA walk in August and our team has chosen prostate cancer as our focus. We will walk for him, as well as the others (too many others) who have battled/are battling this cancer.
Take care,
Cathy C.

I appreciate your posting. I walk in the local MS walk because I lost my mom in 1974 from Multiple Schlerosis...It took me 30 years to deal with that loss...I'm not ready to walk myself on the prostate issue but I will probably in the future. I appreciate your walking for him...Thanks
I'm trying hard to wait to actually pani****il I get to see him Saturday. I had to "make an appointment" with my step mom so that we could go see him...I still think working with her is better than trying to work alone, against her or at least not with her...Until I can see him and decide in my head how bad or how good he's doing, I can't really allow myself to panic...
It's the waiting that gets to me,

Making the effort to deal with your step-mother in a positive way sounds like a very good idea. Hopefully she will see that and respond in kind. I understand that fervent effort to stay calm (or as calm as possible****il you see him and really get a feel for where he is at. It is so difficult and scary and seems to be forever. We are sending good thoughts and prayers your way.
