Dr. Paya??

Has anyone had RNY with Dr. Paya?

I am scheduled for surgery on 8/6/09; when I made my appointment with PCP for the pre-surgical physical, I got a call back from a member of my care team suggesting that I seek out another surgeon.  They didn't give me specifics, other than they had concerns with the "after care".  I found this very suprising because all of the interactions with him or the office seem professional and thorough

Can anyone share their experience, good or bad, to help me make a more informed decision.

Thanks much!

Dr. Paya did my surgery on 5/7/09. I have nothing but good things to say about him. He is very caring and informative. The office was/is very helpful. My surgery was at West Hills Hospital in West Hills. I go to a support group there. Most of us had our surgeries with him and everyone speaks highly of him. If you have any other questions, just send me a message.

Good luck on your decision. I would not hesitate in using him again.

I had my surgery with Dr. Paya almost a year ago.  I don't have a negative thing to say about him.  He was very informative, professional, caring and had a great bed side manner.  I would do it all over in a HEART BEAT with him.
His office staff were very helpful.  He has a great Bariatric Coordinator that works with the hospital, West Hills.
If you have any other questions let me know.
I also suggest going to one of the support group meetings at West Hills Hospital.  THey are every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.  You can get answers there as well.

Thanks Lola and Kim,

I was already feeling pretty comfortable with my decision to use Dr. Paya, you both helped seal the deal.  After MUCH digging I found out that my PCP had more issue with me NOT using one of their contracted hospitals than with Dr. Paya and the West Hills program.  Not exactly a great way to support your patients, shame on them!
