LB Support Group at LB Community Hospital

For anyone who might be interested, the NEW program has a monthly support group meeting.  This meeting is held at Long Beach Community Hospital, in the auditorium at 6pm every third Thursday of the month.  The next meeting will be July 16th.  I have attended life style managements meetings in Orange county.  Everyone is welcome.

My son turns 28 on the 17th, however, he is going to the mountains with his girlfriend so we are celebrating on Thursday night.  Therefore, I cannot go to the July meeting either. However, please keep me posted as I really want to go to this meeting.

I went to the support group at the new program thurs night and well it was a bit strange.  It was small and so serious and slow moving.   no one had a sense of humor.  Is the LB one better?

I enjoyed the LB Coffee for support much better but I suppose I will give it another try.  I can't make LB on the 16th as that is my surgery date.

Thanks for the feedback.  Did you go to the one in Costa Mesa?  Sometimes it depends on who is running the meeting there.  I haven't been to one out there in a while, but was thinking I'd like to check out the one in LB because it is so much closer to home.  The coordinator I spoke with on the phone sounded like they were trying to make the LB one a little more informal and open ended as far as topics.  Sounded appealing so I thought I'd post this so that anyone who was looking for a support group could check this out.  I wish I could go on the 16th and report back to you my take on it, but I have something else going on that night.  And you definitely will not be available!  :) 

So for anyone else, this group is open to all, pre-op, post op, RNY, LAP and VSG (not sure if they do DS), but you do not have to be a patient of the NEW program to attend.  If you do go, let us know what you think.

I haven't attend the NEW program yet, however, I do plan to go to the LB one in August.  
The LB Coffee on the last Saturday of each month is awesome because there are a variety of people at various stages of wls and it is fun!
I will not be able to make the July 25th but will be there on August 29th.

The info for the LB NEW Program support group is at the beginning of this post.  Also, for LB Coffee, Jean will post a reminder for everyone, but this takes place on the last Saturday of the month at the Starbucks on Bellflower Blvd, in front of Lowes.  Starts around 10am and goes until we are all talked out.  Hope to see you there!
