Did something good for myself

I was at yet another lunch event for my job and what I am finding is there is almost always something I can eat in terms of protein.  On Friday though, the two main dishes in the buffet were beef and pasta! Neither of these work for a 6 week post surgery patient. Instead of eating something I shouldn't or starving, I asked one of the hotel catering staff for something else. They found something suitable and I stayed on track.

One of the hardest things for me to do is ask for help when I need it.  I don't want to be a bother or put somebody out, but the catering staff seemed happy to help me. Nobody seemed mad at me.  I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but I didn't ignore my needs.  This was important for me! I believe I did good!

Here we call that a WOW moment!  that is a great WOW moment.   So many of us shut up and said nothing when inside we were dying to say something, express a need.  Instead we buried that feeling with food.  We can't do that anymore so now we have two choices.... start treating ourselfs as we should or not.  I choose to the first one.  You choose the first one!  Welcome my dear you are on your way!  Congrats to you and keep making choices that are good for you, you deserve them.

That is AWESOME!!!   Im glad you wrote that because I didn't think of that as an option.  I would have thought.. "make it work"  as Tim Gunn always says :) (project runway) .  but you did a great thing and I will remember that for when I need that.

congrats for staying the track and inspiring others!

hugs,

Jackie

MsBlues,

Isn't it wonderful to realize we are SO worth it!  Way to go!  It isn't selfish to put your health first that's for sure.

Wow! That is fantastic that you stood up for yourself. The fact that you realized that what was being served was not going to do, without even the thought of  "well, I can try a little bit..." Shows how ready that you are to use the tool you have been given.

I know exactly how you feel when it comes to asking for help. I am more apt to offer, but its hard fro me to ask or accept help. You are sooo on the right track! And Rhonda is right this is called a WOW moment. Congrats on your first wow moment!

Someone I really respect once told me that you have to give others the blessing of giving also.  When only give and never receive you are cheating others out of their blessing.  I know it is very hard to do as I struggle with this all the time myself.  I was also told it is selfish to do this also, as you are wantting to hog all the blessings.  So we should share the blessings with everyone!  Go girls

That is an EXCELLENT WOW moment.  It is such a neat lesson when we let others help us and they are happy to do so.
