OT- Giving Away a Gift?

Hello Everyone,

I have a situation and need some imput.

Some years ago my brother (and his wife) had given me a sewing machine as a Christmas gift.  Since then I have only used it once or twice because I do not like the fact that I have to turn my fabric around manually to tack down the thread at the beginning and end of a seam (today's machines have the lever that you can push and the machine does that for you).  Since then, their machine has been sitting in the box , collecting dust.  I would really like to give it a good home since I am not using it by giving it to someone on freecycle.org (no- I have not promised it to them as yet).  How do you feel about this situation?  I am at a loss as to what to do.

Thank you,

Kim

My 2 cents....  tell your brother and sister-in-law the same thing you just told us, and would they mind if you passed the machine on to someone who'll use it.  Maybe they know someone who'd want it, if not, then pass it on....  but at least that way there will be no hurt feelings about you "giving their gift away".

I tried the Tijuana Pie this weekend.....YUMMO!!!  thanks for that recipe.  and so easy to make

If it can benefit someone that can not afford one of thier own then I say why not.  If you already have another one.  Go for it.

I agree with Laura. Explain the situation. But it is yours to do what you will with it. If you do want to give it to someone, I'd love to take it off your hands.

Thank you to everyone for their replies.  The reason why I posted this in the first place is I have a Kenmore that I like (and more user friendly) better than the one my brother had given me.  I guess, I am trying to simplify my life somewhat.  If something can be better used by someone else, then I would rather give it away.

Note to Katt- if the person on freecycle does not pan out.  I will contact you.

Hello Miss Becky,

First of all, I love the new pic.  Very sassy with the hat.  How are you feeling?

Tijuana Pie is a crock pot recipe.  Think of enchiladas, but layered.  Tortillas, ground meat, cheese, olives, cheese, beans, cheese, enchilada sauce, and oh , did mention cheese.

Thanks again to Kim for this recipe....

This was really good....  I tweeked it a little:  I used all ground turkey and added some southwest seasoning to it....didn't use the 8oz tomato sauce ('cause the chili beans juice added some of the liquid).....and ended up using 8 tortillas 'cause that's how it worked out when I put the layers together.  And cooking in the crockpot as hot as it's been up here the last few days was the best!!

1-1/2 lbs. ground beef (you can also use ground turkey or a mixture of both)
1 onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
3-4 cups of grated cheese
1 (10oz) can enchilada sauce
1 (8oz.) tomato sauce
2 (16 oz.) cans chili beans
1 (16 oz.) can corn, drained
1 (6 oz.) can pitted olives, drained (optional)
6 corn or flour tortillas (size depends on size of crockpot)

Brown beef, onion, garlic and seasonings.  Wipe inside of crock pot with oil (a healthier alternative would be to spray Pam on the inside).  Place 1 tortilla in the bottom.  Spoon in meat mix, a little sauce and cheese.  Top with another tortilla and layer on a bean, cheese and corn section.  Drop in a few olives.  Continue layers, ending with cheese and olive top  Cover and cook low for 5-7 hours.
