Cardiac tests underway...

Hello all...here's goes my tale of my current cardiac-caca..lol
I was in ER 2 weeks ago with chest pains, severe enough to get me off my butt and think...crap, this is serious.  In ER for 12 hrs., EKG done, x-rays taken, blood drawn, pills given, felt better, went home by my decision, cuz, ER will give one a heart attack if not already in the process..lol
Fast Forward to this past Monday at Cardiologist visit....Treadmill stress test done last Thursday was Positive for cardiac condition.  It apparently is in the structure and mechanices of my heart and not the vessels.  Cardiologist says I will need a CT Angiogram to start and I have to keep my physical exercise to a minimum...just a casual walk, slow recumbant bike rides and my beloved bowling.  All this on the heels of me purchasing my 24-hour Fitness membership!!  Well..its a well known fact I hate to sweat anyway..lol  I was given Nitro to use...if I feel the need...and need to start the daily low dose asprin regime.  I don't feel any discomfort when taking the asprin (I take it with food) without a Prilosec type med....should I take it anyway??..the Prilosec?  I'll listen to any input.
My weight hasn't changed in 2 months.....all cuz I hate sweating..lol  Now, I'm not supposed to exercise (a good workout that is) 'til the tests are done.....I've plateaued and flatlined!!.  Recumbant bike (with attached fan!!)...here I come!

Kim,

I am sorry that you have to go through all this.  But listen to the docs and do what they say.  Once they figure out what the deal is they will tell you what you can do to exersize.  But take it slow and easy, that wins the race anyways.   You know the story of the turtle and the hair so I won't bother telling it to you.  But I am good at it and I have a great turtle voice too!   I am keeping you in my prayers that they find out what the heck is going on with you and they fix it!  You get well and take care.

Thank you Dear One...I will be a good girl.  I just got off the phone with cardiology...the CT Angiogram is a week from today...damn, that was fast.  One has to "meet the criteria" to get this test here.(Kaiser).  thank goodness it is right here in the Fontana office.
Thanks for the good wishes and prayers...
take prayer of yourself too!!

Dear Kim,

Wishing you well.  And definitely take things slow as far as exercise goes and just increase as the cardiologist allows.  Once you have your angiogram done, your doctor will be able to determine what treatment you need.  Sending you good thoughts and prayers!!

Sending out big warm hugs to you and will add you to my prayers.  Please take care of yourself and thank God you found this out now when it is manageable and you and the Dr can make the changes needed.

Kim, I am so sorry to hear of your heart problems.  Thankfully you 'listened' to your body and got yourself to ER.  And if the Doc says no excessive exercise...then LISTEN to him!  I have a friend who did the stress test and passed out!!  Regarding the Prilosec? If you were taking it as part of your normal routine before this heart episode, and the doctor didn't say to stop when he added the Nitro and aspirin...it would seem to me that you should continue to take the Prilosec the same as before...but this is just my opinion! If you're not sure, call the doc's office and have one of his assistants ask him.  Better to fully understand his 'orders' than be sorry later.  You will be in my prayers and I hope the angiogram does the trick.
Hugs and prayers coming your way

Nancy...
I thought they had gotten my heart rate up to its max during the stress test...I was wrong.  Cardiologist said too many "blips" showed up at 75% of what they wanted.  I actually felt good though.  I guess its true that some endorphans do ya good!!  I hope to be an example for a better heart thru moderate exercise.
My gut (all the way around me) tells me I will come thru this with a good scolding and better habits.

Honey, I was going to call you today and I got sidetracked, I will try to do so tomorrow.
First I am so glad you were proactive with this and it will be taken care of. Prayers are definitely with you for good results with an easy fix!!!
Listen to the drs and do as they say, I'm sure you can get a refund from 24 Hour Fitness if you need to.

As for the aspirin and Prilosec issue, yes you need to buffer your stomach from the aspirin. I take aspirin now instead of Coumadin and my insurance wouldn't cover the Prilosec, but I buy generic stuff from Costco. It is the generic of Zantac and I've been told that is the best we can take if not Prilosec. It is Ranitidine and I take the max one of 150 mg. I would check with your WLS surgeon to be sure, but you definitely need to take something to protect against ulcers.
You are in my thoughts and prayers sweetie!! bigg huggs, Becky
