I am thankful for many, many things, but first and foremost, for being a mom to the two most wonderful boys on the planet, bar none.

I am also thankful for the person who invented Cymbalta

I am also thankful for Jeff and all we have together.  I just wished that we had met much earlier in life than we did.

I'll play.....

I am thankful for the love and health of my son and my "ummmmm".  Explanation on "ummmmm".  You know when you introduce your boyfriend (very 17 year oldish sounding) significant other, partner (both so impersonal), etc but he's not your husband.  Always seem to say, "I'd like to introduce you to Mike, he's my "ummmmm"................

I'm thankful for my doctor who saved my life this year.  Thanks to her and her insistance that I have surgery even though my biopsy was negative, she saved me from a much graver diagnosis.  The cancer was confined and completely removed. Can't ask for more than that. But she also insisted that I finally get treated for the anemia I have dealt with all my life.  WLS made my iron deficiency anemia even worse then it was.  I'm now getting iron infusions and starting to feel so much better.

I'm thankful for the wonderful job I have.  I have great bosses and co-workers and I'm not in jeopardy of losing my job.  In this economy that is something to be so thankful for.

I'm thankful that my 13 year old niece feels comfortable enough with me to talk to me about what is going on in her life.  At least I can keep an eye out for what she is doing.  Right now her parents are considered the enemy in her mind and she won't talk to them about anything.

And I'm so thankful for all the good friends that I have surrounded myself with.  Friendship is so important and I have some of the best friends anyone could ask for.

Stephanie... i don't know what cancer situation you struggled with (obviously), but, wow... what an amazing doc who would insist on surgery in the face of a negative biopsy... Such a miracle that she did so and found the cancer that was lurking wherever...

I'm in the process of thyroid issues... a 2nd biopsy next week... so... your situation is wonderful to hear about.

Glad you are well, and in good medical hands with the anemia...

xoxo

Hi Lori,

It was uterine and also tumors in my ovaries.  The ovarian tumors were thankfully benign but when they did the pathology on my uterus, even after a negative biopsy just 2 months prior to surgery they found clusters of cancer cells in my uterus.  As it was explained to me, when my doctor did the biopsy because of the way the cancer was in there if she didn't get the biopsy specimen from one of the cancer spots she wouldn't know.  Well nothing showed up on ultrasound so she zeroed in on the area of the firbroid tumor I had.  Well all was negative but I was still bleeding and in pain and not responding to any medication.  So that is why she insisted everything come out and I'm so glad she did.

I had been dealing with gynocological issues for probably 20 years and no doctor ever tried to help.  They all just kept telling me I was fat and needed to lose weight and then I'd be all better.  They just never bothered to check anything.  So I consider myself extremely lucky that my current doctor is so good and so caring.  She is an amazing woman and I do owe her my life.  And it's not like I went to her skinny.  Yes I've lost alot of weight, but I'm still considered obese.  I still weigh over 200 pounds, well over 200 pounds as I've fallen off the WLS wagon I'm afraid to say.  But I'm working on getting back on it.

As for your thyroid, my mother, grandmother and aunts all had thyroid issues.  My mother had hers removed I believe in her late 30's or early 40's.  She was on thyroid meds the rest of her life and as long as she took her meds, everything was fine.  I'll be keeping everything crossed for you that your's turns out to be only good news.  Staying positive is a big part of the equation. When I had my surgery March 23rd I was determined to not let it slow me down.  My incision was quite large (she went through my c-section scar) but I don't do well with pain meds so 2 days after surgery I told them I was done with the pain meds and just got myself up walking and moving.  I was back at work by April 20th.  Everyone told Mike that my positive attitude had everything  to do with my healing ability.  I wasn't going to lay down and go woe is me, I hurt.  Yea I hurt, but I knew it would eventually go away and it did.  So stay positive.  That is my best advice.

Glad to see us old timers back here.  It's been a long time hasn't it.

Stephanie....there is nothing like having a doc who has your back, so to speak, and is aggressive in your health! Thanks for sharing... i'm glad that they got things out.

My next biopsy is next Thursday... it's very painful. They did one three weeks ago.. still sore! In that one, they missed any helpful cells, and only got blood, so we're doing it again.
