Hi, I'm new to the site and message boards in general. I'm just so tired of bogging down my husband who is in the service and has plenty on his mind with out my pity parties. So, I had my gastric bypass Aug 21 2008 and am quickly approaching my one year mark, But I have only lost  83lbs. I am terrified I'm going to fail. I feel like I've totally and completely fallen off the wagon! I am drinking at least a bottle of wine a night and only working out a few times a week.. I feel pathetic and like a total failure ...I feel like I'm very slowly sinking and need to find motivation and joy like I had just a few months ago.... Has anyone gone through this and how did you cope?

Oh, I don't know that it matters but, I am a 31 year old stay at home mother of 3, living on an Army base in the middle of the high dessert.

Welcome to the Cali Board.  Sweetie, you need to find a counselor to help you sort things out.  Is there anyway, you could find a babysitter for a couple of hours- just so you can have some "me time".  You need to get off the bottle (somehow).  Alcohol  is a lot of empty calories.  Another thing that you could do to get yourself back on track to do the 5 day pouch test.  Google "5-dpt".  There is a website specifically created for it.

Good luck.

Kim

There is all kinds of support up there in the high desert! Did you read Spartacus' post about a "drama free" dinner up there, LOL?

Get connected!! Get out! meet some people and get support!

None of us can do this alone as well as we can with others...

best wishes,
Lori

Welcome to the Cali Board,

You've come to the right place for support and people who care.  Please put down the bottle and start posting more, reading blogs, go to a support group (bring the kids) and start reliving life.  There are wonderful people in the high desert who are there to help too.

My thoughts and prayers are going out to you and your family.  You're among friends who care now.

Hugs,
Barb

Have you thought of AA or any other type of counselor? On the base I am sure there is help for anyone that asks for it. And there is no shame in asking for help. You are replacing your food addiction with another one (booze). I will be a year out 8/19/08 and so far I have lost 93 pounds and have about 12 to go. Don't judge yours with others we all are different in one way or the other. SO just do what you know in your heart has to be done...get back on your program or try the 5 day pouch test, seek help... get involved with the community... take the kids swimming and get in there with them, water exercise is great this time of year! Come to the Cali board often we are here for support. And we pass no judgement.

I grew up here in the Mojave Desert. So, I'm used to it.

Don't kick yourself too much. I work at a base up here. I really think they should give you poor military spouses who get sent out here counseling just for dealing with the lack of green stuff like trees. Couple that with a gastric bypass and being out where I think you're at, and it's understandable that you got yourself where you are. But you can get yourself off the crazy train you're on.

I think AA might be good for you. If they don't have one on post, there's gotta be at least one meeting in Barstow. Find someone to watch the kids and go for yourself. You deserve it.

Hugs!!!
