Day 1 Liquid Diet...HELLLP!!
I will always say "do what your doctor says." On that note, my doctor wanted me to lose 10 to 15 pounds inthe two weeks before my surgery. I went on the liquid diet their office provided, but ate dinner at night that consisted of meat and vegetables only. On the day of my surgery, I'd lost exactly 15 pounds. Talk to their office and see if that's okay.
Corinna,
You can do this! Remember that the liquid diet is designed to shrink the liver prior to surgery, so you want to give yourself the best preparation possible. That being said, I know it's tough but you can do this. Here are some things that really helped me survive this time before surgery.
1. I strained Progresso soup (not creamy kind) which has much more flavor than plain broth.
2. Drink 8 oz of water or clear beverage before and about 1/2 hr after your "liquid meal" this will help with fullness.
3. Sugar free popsicles really help.
Depending on what type of liquid you're on, if it's a shake sort of drink, you might be able to freeze it and eat it like frozen treat.
I even went to a Chinese restaurant and ordered hot and sour soup and strained out all the solids just to have some spicey taste.
I sure hope this is helpful. I'm here if you need me, just do the best you can and remember that it is only a temporary thing. The reward is your surgery.
FYI, I had to start my liquid diet on New Years Eve! LOL
Hugs,
Barb

Corinna, it is tough and only temporary. Now that I said that, it doesn't make it any easier does it? Have you tried some jello, popsicles and broth? Yes, you probably have or will. I just mainly popped on here to wish you the best and remember this is only temporary and the end result is an amazing and fantastic journey!

We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names,
& all are different colors....but they
ALL exist very nicely in the same box.
