Biggest milestone yet

Greetings all.

I hope all is well with everyone and you guys are at least trying to stay cool in this devilish heat wave.

I cannot believe this ride I have been on since my surgery back in Feb. I have had alot of victories and milestones since then but yesterday really hit home. My wife and I went to Costco for the first time in months. I found a Protein shake that looks like will help me get back on track with my protein intake (I have been real bad about this). It has 30 grams of protein and only 2 grams of sugar with 160 calories.

They were blowing out a bunch of Weigh****chers scales for $19.95. They weigh up to 440 lbs so I figured I would get one for that price and be able to contribute to the WWW every week. I brought the thing home and I just had to try it (imagine me wanting to get on a scale). I have not weighed myself except for the scales at my PCP's office which are no where close to Dr. Suh's scale. I was shocked and dismayed to discover that I am below the weight I was when I graduated high school. I can't really describe the feeling but I am still in shock.

I started this journey just over 5 months ago at 476 lbs and as of yesterday, with the new scale, I am at 342 lbs.......Simply amazing

Have a great day everyone...............Rick

That is great Rick!!  During my weightloss everytime I would get on the scale I would be shaking my head in disbelief...Thinking this WLS stuff will happen to others...I might lose a few pounds...then gain it back (setting myself up for failing).  It really becomes like an amusement park ride...never knowing what is around the next corner.  Brian  PS  Get ready for the mental side of WLS...Soon it may become harder to handle than the physical side of it.

dismayed = disappointed

I think you meant to say you were ecstatic (super duper happy).

"shocked and dismayed"....LOL... that's AWESOME, rick....

that almost brings tears to MY eyes, to see you getting your life and health back like that.

One thing, though... don't slight yourself on protein, vitamins, and nutrition. Being thin and healthy is one thing. Being thin and malnourished is quite another.

Scolding over. Resume rejoicing!

Holy crapola Batman . . .YOU ROCK!  Unbelievable results you have had . . . I'm really happy for you . . . and you STILL NEED A NEW AVATAR!!!  We probably wouldn't recognize you from this picture!

I drink the Premier Protein shakes every day . . . I got a Costco card just so I could buy them.  I'm going to echo other people here too . . . do NOT skimp on protein and nutrients . . . it will cause you trouble - and CONGRATS on the scale.  I was standing next to them yesterday while I was pushing the Brita water filter thing . . .and was thinking of getting one . . . I might just do that anyway.

So proud of you!  You will be right there in the WWW numbers for always now!

Chris
