I know, I know you've heard it before!
Im still going to ask, I have Anthens Blue cross, My doctor is Aileen Takahasi of the southbay surgeons. I had to loose 37 pounds in order to get considered for the surgery. I did loose 41 as of july 17th, Here is my question, I have to wait for authorization, does this really take the 4 weeks like the doctor said to get?
I don't have your health insurance, but my authorization took I believe 1.5 - 2 weeks. A month sounds long, but each HMO is different. With my doctor we set a date and then asked for authorization. They may tell you it takes that long so they don't up your expectations too. I hope it comes in sooner for you!

Legally, in the state of CA, an insurance provider has 30 days to make a decision about any authorization, appeal, etc. They often respond sooner, but it sounds like your Dr. is being cautious and giving you the max time to plan for. Calling your Dr. every day won't help the situation move any faster as it isn't in their control. I know its hard to wait, but try to hang on just a little longer - you will get there!
Hi Key-
I have the same insurance co. as you...And I got approved in a week and a half. I actually had the insurance co. call me offering me a nurse to call if I had any questions about my upcoming surgery before the dr office called to tell me it was approved. LOL. Hang in there it won't take as long as they told you...You will hear from Anthem before the DR. calls with the good news.
