Cougar Mountain

This morning at 5 AM a girl from work and I met at cougar mountain in the wild life park here in town. We wanted to walk up the mountain. If you all remember when Rhonda and I walked the 400000 miles and part of it was going down Mt Roux off the path. Well the whole cougar mountain is like that. Lots of people walk up that mountain and I have heard some great stories from them. The trail was so hard it took us over two hours to get to the top, and Its only 1 mile. OMG it was so hot and sticky, we where sweating like dogs by the time we got to the top. We both took two large water bottles up with us and left one at the bottom. Just in case we needed and trust me, we did. Our climb was NOT pretty, and at points we would start laughing and calling ourselves fools. But both us are not quiters. I am sure the other hikers were laughing at us also. Oh well, as long as we made them happy, right?

At the top there is this message board. Only one person can post on it because its locked. I guess the message changes every week, on Sundays. The message this morning was....

If this is your first time, and it took you less then an hour, you need to move on to a hard climb this one is to easy for you.
If it took you over two hours, you need to sit down before you fall down, and no, there is no oxygen up here for you.
If your time is in between, you are doing great. Keep up the great work.
If you are a returning climber, Welcome back!

This climb is a level 2, hard, or level 3 beginner. So now you can tell the world you have climb a level 3 mountain.

Going down is going to harder then coming up, so take your time. DO NOT RUSH!!! Remember, this is a wild life park, so please do not feed the animals. Snakes will be on the trial early morning and late evening. They can be deadly, so do not play with them. (Dang it! took all the fun out of the hike) This is called cougar mountain for a reason, so watch out for the cats, they may not be happy. (I started laughing so hard at that, I almost passed out).

There was a few others at the top most of them have done it more then 5 times. We where the only one that where frist timers.

It tooks us about an hour and half to get down. It was almost as hard or harder in spots. We both loved the hike so much, we are going to do it again on sunday morning. This time we are going to take some food with us. The water worked out great, so we will take the same amount.  Of course, that depends on how we are moving in the morning. LOL

OK time to get me some dinner. Take and have a great night.

I promise it was not dangerous. I truly do not think there is any cougars up there. Or in this area of calif. Is there? And snakes do not bother me. The trail is very busy, with tons of others around. It was tons of fun, and very hard work.

Right now body is good, tomorrow might be a knew story.

Oh Chris, it was so much fun. I am happy I found someone just as crazy as myself when it comes to doing this stuff. She is just as out going and crazy, just wish she was a runner also. Maybe I will give up running for hiking. We are talking about trying "Hanger 18" An in door mountain climbing place close by. I think it would be fun to try it atleast once.

Please post where this trail is? California is a really big state, I'm afraid. I did an ask.com search and turned up things in Washington State but not "local"....Sorry I'm so dense.
Yes, RNY worked for me but it also requires a lot of work from me!
