OK, I don't like to get into politics, but I am so MAD I could just SPIT!!!
Not being obese, but overweight is different. Some people are naturally the size they are whether it's large or small. Very thin women always have to put up with people accusing them of being anorexic and overweight women are always assumed to be overeaters who are lazy. The person being nominated isn't running for a model position, she's looking after the nation's health. If she has struggled with weight, she is probably the perfect person to be in the position because it's such an issue for so many people. It's one thing to want to spread health all over the world and it's another to write off someone because they don't fit into the narrow confines of what our society would dub healthy.
Nobody made a big deal about C. Everett Koop's weight. They are only bringing up hers because she's a woman, IMO.
