Hi all,

I've listed what I am thankful for today, but I feel the need to VENT!! I also want to hear your annoyances too. Here go mine. Helpful advice is welcomed.

-My mom being on chemo and watching her deal with awful side effects
-Only losing 1 pound this week. I wanted to lost 50 pounds by 8 weeks, but I don't think I'll make that.
-Still having a brain that tells me to munch out 24/7. I keep telling that nagging addictive voice to go away, but it remains present. I am not giving in, 98% of the time, and when I do, I eat stuff like watermelon or low fat cheese
-Working too many hours and having to spend 2 hours round trip in my car to get to and from work
-Not finding the time to exercise on a daily basis because of the job and the commute
-Not being able to walk at lunch because of two types of tendenitis in my foot (I can cycle & swim)
-Not being able to walk at lunch because I have to wear formal business clothes and can't get stinky or look ruffled. Plus it's still hot in Silicon Valley.
-If I want to exercise, having to do it at 6 am in the morning
-If I exercise at 6 am, having to go to bed earlier which means no time for me to read or have do whatever the hell I want time.
-Angry that I can't seem to find a job close to where I live that doesn't completely bore me or drastically under pay me. My husband walks to work though.
-Really resent being busy every minute of my day
-Getting called a Marxist, parasite and dumb ass at work yesterday (I work for an elected official) by rude constituents

Phew, I had a lot to get out of my brain.

Now lets hear yours.

My mother always told me, "Where there is a will, there is a way".

I know you are frustrated , but losing one pound is better than gaining one pound.  Also, think about  cycling in the evening.  If you cannot walk (whenever) for fitness , don't worry about.  Do what you can and let the rest go (re: exercise).  Or switch the exercising (in the morning) with the reading, meaning read during your lunch break and exercise in the morning.  Life sucks no matter how you slice or dice it.  If you did not have a job that messed up your schedule you would be complaining about that.  Be thankful you have a job (especially in this economy).  I am sorry you are having  a rough time now.  I know what it is like to see a loved one sick and can do nothing about it.  The exercise will really help keep the stress low.  You don't have to exercise in a block of thirty to sixty minutes.  You can break it up in 10 minute segments.

Hi Kim,

I like the idea of using lunch time as my reading time.  That was a great suggestion.  I have to actually take my lunch hour to do that , but that is a good solution. Thanks!

I do exercise at night when I can, but my job takes me into the evening because I have to attend community events on behalf of the politician I work for.  This week I have 4 12 hour days in a row.  My job was only going to be for 5 years when I took it so I thought I could dig my heels in and deal with the long hours and the drive because I wanted the experience.  I didn't know then I'd be doing bariatric surgery and caring about things like giving myself more time.  I find myself getting resentful about the long days.  It's probably a good thing for me to be more selfish.

My willingness gene is growing for going to bed earlier and exercising in the AM. I did it yesterday!! Today I had great intentions, but rolled back to sleep. Tomorrow is another day though.

Thanks again,
Ms. Blues

Hi Ms.
I had WLS the day before you...How are you doing? Have you been back to the dr for any follow up appt? I haven't and I was wondering if I am supposed to but don't know if I need to make an appt.
Good luck on your exercise. It's hard to find the time when you're so busy with work and commuting.
Also, I'm sorry about your Mama.

Hi Mama Kat,

I've been doing well for the most part. I had a 3 week follow up appointment so he could check my incisions and a few other things.  I am suppose to see him again at the 6th month point.

My only difficulty has been having to throw up sometimes because the food gets stuck somewhere between my throat and stomach. Sometimes I think it's because I eat too fast. Sometimes I might be trying a new food too quickly.  It's a very uncomfortable feeling and painful at its worse, but as I remember to eat slowly or not test the pouch out so much, I've been having this problem much less.

I seemed to have recovered quickly from surgery and was back at work around 12 days after surgery.  Sometimes I get tired very quickly.  It just hits me very suddenly and I am barely functional. That doesn't happen as often, but it did happen a lot through the 5th week or so.

How have you been doing? It's great to compare notes with somebody on the same time cycle!

Cheers,
MsBlues
