Half Marathon Drama!
So, I finished!! Whew! Thanks to everyone who sent me well-wishes for a good run. The weather was perfect for running. It was foggy and chilly, and the first 5 miles or so were great. Running over the Golden Gate Bridge was AWESOME!
Then I made a u-turn, ran the bridge again and somewhere after that the drama started. I was busy shuffling along. Took a phone call from Kirsten & Kevin who gave me a great pep-talk....shuffling, walking, shuffling, then somewhere after mile 11 I realized I didn't know where I was or where to go. I RAN OFF THE COURSE!!
THANK YOU to Helen who I called and got some directions from. I got back on track finally, I was off course by about 5 blocks. By then I was SO TIRED and walked the last two miles. I don't know how much time I lost but by the time I got to the finish line there were no specators, no snacks, no water, no pictures, and NO MEDALS!!!!
It was awful. I stood there in a empty field where volunteers were cleaning up and going home. I cried a little bit. A volunteer suggested I go to the other finish line for the full marathon. So I caught a cab across town I told the driver to take me to the finish line and he asked "Are you cheating?" LOL!!
I went downtown and got my goodies: a finisher's medal, my California Dreamin' medal & jacket!! (for completing 2 previous races), a snack, some water, and my picture taken. HOORAY!
Would I do it again? Heck yeah! I want to come back next year!
I started to get a little teary when I read your post, then I got to the last part and I got so happy and empowered by your post! Way to go! I am so happy for you! I am glad you got your medals and jacket, you so deserve them. Congratulations on a job well done!
Hugs, love, & friendship,
Michelle T.

Keep me posted as that sounds like a grand time. Then I can see MOMO and the northern girls too! lol. Talk to you soon and thanks for all ov your support, your Awesome.

God love you for being the woman that you are. Perservance and strength, got you to the end and the finish line, where you worked so hard to be. I am so blessed to read your post and like Michelle, I too cried, but then kept reading and everything came out positive.
You go girl, you are an inspiration to all.
Hugs & Love,

Karen
