Hi

Obviously I am from California but new to this particular forum. I am just finishing up my 6 month education classes as required by my medical group...well almost. September 21 is my last class and then I get my surgeon referrel.

I's 44 years old, married 19 years and we have a 15 year old daughter. My passion is horses but I have gotten way too heavy to ride and don't feel comfortable.

I finally decided to go this route when in January of this year I was tired of hurting so bad from arthritis and suffering from terrible GERD. I have toyed with this idea for several years but I did not find it the "easy way out" but the "scary way out" and after doing lots of research and going to support groups I realized that wls had come a long way.

I am excited to start this journey and feel better all around.

Welcome Melissa!  You'll find lots of support and good people here.  I suffered  from GERD something awful.  I took Prilosec daily and if I missed my dose by even an hour or two, the pain was unbearable.

Since my surgery I haven't suffered from GERD, not once!  No indigestion, acid problems, etc.  I can only speak for myself, but it's heaven to not have that pain any longer.

Hi Melissa,

Welcome to the California forum boards.  I've been helped here many times. I am only 2 months out from my RNY surgery.  So far it has been a rather long 2 months for both negative and positive reasons.  Be sure to ask questions.  I've been very thankful for the support I've found here.
