Medical bracelet?

Just a question, I see on one of the other boards that one gal makes these pretty medical ID bracelets with a tag you can switch out.

Is this something we should have after having gastric bypass?   I had mentioned it to the internist and she said I might want to think of it since I had a small pouch and if I was ever in a bad accident or something in ER they would shove a scope or tube or something down into me and it could burst the pouch if they didn't know I had this.

Just want your opinions.. do you wear one?  And if so.. what should it say?

Thanks!

Jackie

Those are cute . . . I just like the silver chain style better . . . I think I'd catch that on something and break it lol.

Let us know how you like it when you get it!  (Also google ID bracelets - there are a ton of them out there)

Thanks for the link!

I have one, but I don't wear it right now because I no longer take blood thinners.  But yes, the reason I want one, is I don't want they putting a tube down me that might injure me.  Who is the lady that makes pretty ones....share the name!

Hugs, Diane

I wear one...I have 2 of them one is a beaded bracelet that a friend did for me with my regular medical alert on it and the other one is a dog tag type necklace. I got both of mine from www.medicalalert.org
We ALL should wear...if we were in an accident and a GI tube was to be used it could do seriuos damage to our pouch (like put a hole in it).

I have one through Road ID. It is a velco bracelet with a metal plate. I Have the interactive version, which costs $9.99 per year (the first year is free). The good thing with the interactive ID is that you can make changes to your profie online, so that it is always updated and in case of an emergency, a caregiver can call an 800 number for all your info. You can check it out at www.roadid.com

Hi all,

In addition to the bracelets, if you are an iphone owner, there is an application that is called ICE (in case of emergency). It acts as your wallpaper on the phone and trained personell will look at the phone and see the instructions. Also has a Emergency contact on the wallpaper.

Not as good as the Alert bracelets but just an added insurance

Have a great day.........Rick

I think medical id's are great to have but I dont think the interactive road id is such a great idea.  If something should happen to me I dont want people wasting time trying to access the internet to get my medical info.  I dont think a paramedic would even be able to do this.  Seems pointless.  But thats just my opinion.
