My advice to you is to START NOW. Document rashes, itching, discomfort at every doctor's visit so that you can begin to build a case. I'm not sure, but I believe that most insurance companies will not consider you for reconstructive surgery until your weight has stabilized and you are at least 1 year post op.
When you make your request tell you surgeon to stress MEDICAL NECESSITY and not for cosmetic purposes.
