Can you please help with WLS decision?
Terri,
You are the only one that can make the decision, but I will give you some info into my story. I had RNY on 1/16/08 and my highest weight was 326lbs. I am now at 163lbs. I would do it again in a heartbeat! There are tough times and then there are those "WOW" moments, but let me tell you, the "WOW" moments really do out weigh the tough times.
This is a life changing decision. You will not only change physically, but mentally. We all joke around and say "this is a rollercoaster ride", but the truth is, it really is! You will laugh, cry and wonder why you did this, but it's part of the process of changing mentally of who you were and who your going to be. It will also be tough for people close to you, they won't understand the changes your going through.
As far as the malabsorbtion, I never experienced that. I take all my vitamins & eat my protein first. The eating part, you will learn in time and by trial and error. Don't worry about support, because you will find that there are so many wonderful people on this site that will be there for you!!! If I lhad a choice to do it over again, I would choose the RNY. I choose it because of the restrictions of food choices I was forced to follow. I know everyone has an opinion and they made the choices for them for particular reasons and this is ok, because in the end, it's where we want to be and not how we get there. Good Luck in your decision!
Julie
