That is one of the reasons I went to my doctor.  His stats were excellent.  He does a great surgery, just doesn't have a good bedside manner, and surely they don't encourage you.  Which is sad.  But that is the reason for me going to him, as I said.  Besides being overweight, I was also older, 58 when I had surgery.  It is just another risk.
