Just had my VSG Last week, looking for a good support system SAN DIEGO

So I just had my VSG done on the 27th and I am trying to find some people who have also had WLS to befriend. I heard from another member on the site that the SD group is very active & gets 2gether often!! I have a 2yr old son who goes EVERYWHERE I do...  :o) Anywho hit me up whenever, i'm just sitting here ;o)

Hi Jaime and Welcome!

I've not been around for a long time, but I think the SD group tries to get together once a month.  I went in July and met some great ladies.  We aren't having one in August, but there will be one in September!  Watch the board and you will see it posted in time to hopefully be able to make it!

I couldn't make it to the July gathering...but very much looking forward to the September one! 

Congrats on your surgery Jaime!  I am in Scripps Ranch, she is in Penasquitos so maybe we all could arrange for kid-friendly walks or meetings/coffee/lunches too in addition to the main SD group.  I'm down for whatever...but I am definitely needing some WLS companionship over here!

Just had my surgery almost 6 weeks ago...do any of you ladies know of a good gym/ curves type deal?  I hate going to regular gyms cause everyone's already nice and skinny! lol

I got a good deal on a year membership to 24 Hour Fitness a month or two before surgery so I am going to the one in Rancho Bernardo.  And when I go...I'm going with my skinny sister and just not caring!  I'm there for me...not for anyone else that's there.  And truly...they are not really looking at me/you as much as we might sometimes think!

Hopefully we will see you in September at the get-together...the details will be posted here so keep an eye out!

Hi Everyone...

I have surgery on August 11 (yikes!) and I know that after this, I will definitely want and need a good support network...  I will take my week or so to recover, but after that I will be hitting the walking and excercize route.

Someone asked about a gym...  I used to go (many years ago) to a place called Women's Fitness World in Chula Vista (corner of Third and F St.).  I liked the all female environment, they had modern fitness equipment and an indoor pool.  And there were real sized women in addition to the thin women.

Keep me in your loop... and if anyone in the South County (I live near Imperial Beach) needs a walking buddy... hit me up!

Ok... update...

I was just online reading reviews of Women's Fitness World, and it sounds like the place has really gone downhill...  In the reviews people have said that it is filthy and not well maintained...  So skip what I said!!

Thanks for all the replies everyone!!! I am always up for a kiddie walk or anything!!! If anyone is military with Children, the NAS on Coronado has a FREE Gym with a Mommy section!! you can bring your kids & work out, it's great!!
