First trip alone since surgery
Hi there.. .some of ya know me.. others well .. hello. I had surgery in 06 and doing well. Haven't been on the board much but do connect with some friends on here. Anyways, I am seeking advice from anyone who might be a travel agent. I am going to go see my high school friend in GA and am trying to find out the cheapest way to do that. This will be my first trip alone after surgery. I recently broke up with my partner. Anways, I do go online and check the prices often but was wondering if there are other insider ways to get to GA cheaper. I want to leave Oct 24 and come back Nov 15. Any advice would be welcomed. To all you Ca board members, as always you are awesome.

Hi Jillie..... I am doing good. Never had any problems since surgery. Learning to be single.. well sort of... again. Which is weird when you have been in a long relationship. Anyways... been working as a police code compliance officer for almost 3 yrs now. It's a lot better job now then what I was doing with the police dept. I have been going to school studying building inspection so I can try to get a job in zoning.. pays better. Other than that.. life is good and am still losing.. slowly though. How the heck have you been????

Webby, I travel often and you and get good deals if you just shop around...I have tried priceline, orbits and booked with the airline and rental car companies directly and the only problem I have ever had was the Motel Priceline.com got for me at a great rate with airfare and rental car was very good but I had to change plans a total of 3 time coming and going and the motel was way too far from the area that I wanted to be near. This was to VA and for one week car rental, airfare and motel was 580.00 which I think is pretty good.Oh ..oops...am I not suppose to talk about such things as $$. LOL Anyway PM if I can help you with any pointers.

Hi Webby,
Nice to see you. I'm not a travel agent, but I just recently was on the search for plane tickets. A friend of our's who is an agent found us what he said was the cheapest fair of $340 per ticket. Well I didn't want to pay that much, so I just started going on all the various search engines trying to find deals. I tried different departure and arrival airports and some different dates and times. If you have some flexability in your travel plans that will be helpful. Long story short I got us tickets for $197 each. What worked for me was leaving on a Saturday and coming home on Sunday. Just keep going on the search engines, Orbitz, Travelocity, Travelzoo, Expedia, Priceline just to name a few. I tend to do best with Orbitz or Travelocity, but just check all of them out.
Have a good trip.

One other thing I forget. Be sure to check out Southwest. They were having a $97.00 fare offer but they didn't fly to where I was going. They might be flying to GA though. Have fun searching and don't jump at the first thing you see. The flights I eventually found had just become available a few days before I booked them. They weren't there in some of my earlier searches.
Good Luck
