Best place to stay for St. Mary's (Rabkin) surgery

I've looked at a few places, but I know that you guys are the best source of info. We are flying to SFO on 9/13 and (hopefully) leaving on 9/28. My Hubby is coming with me, and we are renting a car too. I'm looking for somewhere with free parking, and that is clean and safe. Oh, and mostly...not expensive...lol! We would do better with a microwave and fridge, and onsite laundry. I'd really like cable and internet too. Anyone have some good ideas?
Thanks so much!
Marsha
I owed it to myself to research the Duodenal Switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you.  Check out: DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information.

Sorry, don't know.  I pulled this below off the St. Mary's website.  There may be a transit (BART) strike that may come up...But it should be resolved quickly and not be a problem...Just a heads up.  You could stay out in the suburbs and take BART in...SF has good city transit...But that is time consuming...SF is just plain expensive.  Brian

Of course I wish I could give you a simple answer alas I don't have one. As a city dweller and a frequent visitor of St Marys, here is what I can offer. General rule in the City is that parking is a nightmare,  hotels included, many of them are charging upwards of $40 a night for parking. St Marys is located across from the infamous Golden Gate Park, however there is not an abundance of hotels in the area, especially something affordable. There are a few out on the Great Highway which is basically the end of the City before falling off into the Pacific Ocean. All them would offer free parking and are about a 10 minute drive from St Marys.  I can offer one recommendation, which I have used for family visiting out of town. The Hampton Inn, in Daly City. Daly City is the "suburb" immediately south of SF. The Hampton Inn is located across from the Daly City City Hall (and police dept where I happen to work). They offer free parking, and will put the mini-fridge in your room for you. There are a number of restaurants with-in walking distance and I would say door to door you are 13 minutes from St Marys and about 5 minutes from a BART station should you want to head into downtown SF. The Hampton is about $100 a night, many similar places in San Francisco proper will be at least 150, and thats not including parking.

This is my 2cents, trying to be budget conscious, if you wanted to splurge a bit I can point you in a whole different direction.
