Surgery is Scheduled..........how did you feel?
All normal feelings. Anxiousness, nervousness, fear are all part of the process. You wouldn't be normal if you weren't feeling all those.
I was nervous, but resigned that it was my only chance to continue to live. At almost 450 pounds it was all I had to hang onto.
This is just the beginning of the feelings. You'l drive yourself totaly crazy from now until they put you to sleep for the actual surgery. Just go with whatever you are feeling and know that it is all normal.
Good Luck.

For sure I was nervous but i was also very confident that i had done my research and I had an excellent surgeon with a great track record and I knew this is what I wanted to do so I put those thoughts out of my head and stayed positive.
Just keep your eye on the prize there.. feeling good, bettering your health and yes.. looking good. Every time i feel a twinge of fear or nervousness, i come to this board and read success stories, look at before and afters and talk to these wonderful peeps on the Cali board. Then I feel better and motivated!
Hugs to you!

My surgery is 9-9-9. (I like to write it that way) I know I am very excited and a bit nervous. But that is to be expected. Just remember this is the start of an exciting new journey. I told my husband that I am going to be spending this next year working on myself and I expect him to do the same! You will be o.k., look at how many people have made it through this! Good Luck!
Deb,
I was nervoulsy excited before my surgery but I wouldn't change a thing. It's by far the best decision I ever made in my life. I am completely off all medication for diabetes, high blood pressure, and cholesterol. I am working towards my goal of living life much healther.
Hey we hope you might come join us for the Nor Cal Luncheon in Pleasant Hill this Sat. See the earlier posting, we're a fun bunch and happy to share friendship and support.
Hugs,
Barb

I could not wait. I wasn't worried about the surgery at all, I knew that I would no longer be fat and this was what I needed to continue life. What worried me more than that surgery was how I was going to make it through those days of liquid diets. But I did, and happier than ever. I find worrying about things is just a waste of good energy that I need to live to 100, so I really try not to waste the time.
Good luck, Diane

Hi Deb (Momon2acres ^_^)
Congrats on getting your surgery date! Yours and my stats are almost identical other than I'm a bit shorter than you ;-) I'm guessing your Kaiser or there is more than 1 Dr Chu in the East Bay. Come on over to Chili's this weekend, the 22nd, starting at noon. You will meet a bunch of great pre and post op surgery people...all willing and able to answer questions and in general make you laugh and have a great time. Meeting up with people who have had the WLS will help settle those nerves and 2nd quessing nutsy ideas. We've all been there! PM me or NewBarb2 for address and directions...hope we see you there! And hope we see you posting here often...greatest place to find encouragment, support and advice ^_^

Hi Deb, congrats on your surgery date!! How did I feel when I got mine?? I was 'WTF did I just do?!?!?'. I got the call on April 22 and scheduled surgery for April 29, so I only had 8 days til surgery. It went by in a whirlwind. I had a lot of emotions going through me; fear, excitement, etc. But the good thing is that I had everyone on the Cali board for support. They got me through the anxieties of it all and I could NEVER thank them enough. You will do great. We are all here for you and can't wait for you to join us on the Losers' Bench. I wish you much success on your weightloss journey. xoxoxo
