OT: Need Prayers
Or good JuJu, shaking of the chicken or whatever you have to offer.
My Daughter-in-law of 19 years has breast cancer! Pam and my son, Ken are dealing with it fairly well today but they won't know the true extent of the cancer until the first of next month. Then they will start chemo and radiation. I may be going down there to help them when she starts treatments if she will let me help...she is very hardheaded. I am pretty pissed knowing she found the lump 8 months ago and didn't do anything about...she says she thought it was just another fibroid... but the truth be told she was in denial.
I was thinking about going to work in San Fransisco again but now I don't think I will take the job that has been offered knowing that I might have to go down to Henderson next month. It wouldn't be fair to the employer. But this position come open from time to time so maybe next time.
Anyway, send prayers, or whatever you do for Pam we need all the help we can get. If we lost her I don't l know if my son could handle it. Oh and on top of all this they are in foreclosure.

Joy... i'm so sorry to hear about this. As someone who is almost TOO proactive about health care/concerns (borderline hypochondriac, LOL), i don't understand the thought patterns of people who put off dealing with the tough stuff, but, i'm sure it has to do with fear... or, in some cases, maybe being ignorant of the possible seriousness of things.
In either case, it is what it is, and may the Lord guide your DIL and son...and give you all courage...strength...guidance, and HEALING for her body...

Lori, thank you. What gets me the most is, Pam is a nursing student work toward her bachelors degree. So I know it came from fear and not ignorance. I just wish she would have been more pro active with her health care. I think too that because she has had other serious health issues that she just got tired of having to deal with it all. But this will be the fight for life. Not only hers but my sons as well.
Thank you again

Miss Joy, I am so sorry to hear this. Women can't just sit in denial when it comes to situations like this. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. We MUST be proactive. I found a lump in my breast in November 2002. Within 2 days I was in for a mommogram and within 2 weeks after getting the results, I was in for a biopsy. The lump turned out to be fibrous tissue and fat pockets. The surgeon found 3 more in addition to the one I found and removed them all. I have very fibrous breasts but anytime I feel a lump I get it checked out.
