For 12 years Ive worked for a medical testing institute.  We do anything your doc would want to test you for.  I'm a specialist in the processing department.  I oversee the specialty functions.  Dont want to get into much more cause no one would know what I'm talking about anyway.   I absolutely love my job and the company I work for!

What did you apply for?  And for which area?  If you send me your resume I can turn it in with a referral form to HR.

With the economy all jacked up we are over loaded with people applying for jobs.  For my department alone we have a stack of about 60 resumes to go through.

Diane,

Great idea and great post.

I am in Human Resources, specializing in Workers' Compensation, Disability Management, Benefits Administration and Training and have been in this line of work for 19 years.  I was 13 years with a steel manufacturer,  1 year with Bank of the West, 7 years Laidlaw Education Services, and then finally 1 1/2 yrs at Mt. Diablo Unified School District where I was laid off due to budget cuts.

I interview with AAA tomorrow and got called back today for a 2nd interview with Alameda Hospital on Sept. 2nd with their CEO, CFO and Hospital Administrator.  I love what I do and couldn't think of doing anything else.

Hugs,
Barb

For 13.5 years I have worked for a Union Electrical Contractor in Norwalk.  I am the Office Manager, A/P Manager, Collections,  Corp. Secretary.  I also handle the Drug/Alcohol program, Health & Safety program, Workers Comp Claims, Contract administrator and generally anything the owners or estimators do not want to do.  I am also a Notary Public.   The owners are a husband & wife team and are now semi retired so I run it all.  I know more about the business than the female owner who has been in the business for 30 years.

The type of work my company does is heavy industrial.  We do alot of work for County of LA, Los Angeles County Sanitation District, we re-build or remodel water treatment pumping plants and do very heavy industrial work.

I am currently on Social Security Disability due to a car accident in 2001, but am looking to go back to work. I have been looking for work since the end of March, have sent out about 500 resumes and had only 4 interviews...ugh!

Oh Diane, great post.

I am retired, 30 years from the Grocery business. I love, love, love it. Held many postions from bookeeper, checker, night crew, service deli, bakery, front end supervisor, new associate trainer, you name it. Spending time with my husband, family and friends is the best. We are packing everything up and going to be full time RV'ers in January. Can't wait!!!!
Hugs & Love,

Karen

Good Morning Diane.......

I work for Riverside County in the ER for Department of Pshyic.
We have are own hopital, so we are still in Riverside, why the medical hospital is in Moreno Valley. I am a Medical Unit Clerk and I have one for 19.5 years. I was thinking about retiring next year when I hit 20 years, but I am now rethinking that, since finding a new job might not happen all that fast. Of course, I would not retire until I have a new job lined up. ..........

Fun question Diane!!

For the last year, I have been a dispatcher for a long haul trucking company.  Basically, I find back hauls for my trucks to come home with so they are not coming home empty.  Not my dream job but it was the only one that became available.  I am still looking for other work.  I have been in the clerical/office work field for 11 years.  Before that, I was a hair stylist.  I gave that up though because I became a single mom and needed a steadier income.
My great hope is to laugh as much as I cry; to get my work done and try to love somebody and have the courage to accept the love in return.-- Maya Angelou
