Hey Stacie, I have a ? for you.  I want to try to find a truck co. that I can pay to get my son's car to him.  He is stationed in Wichita Falls, Texas.  Do you know who I would call or how I would find out  how I might find someone to do this?  I really, really don't want to drive it back there myself and would much rather pay to have it shipped.  Thanks for any info you can give me!!

Hugs,
jillie

Your best bet is to find a private trucker who owns a car carrier.  All of our trucks are dry box vans.  I can do a little looking for you.  How far do you have to go with it?  You may want to call a truck that you see car carrier driving down the road or call a dealer and ask who delivers their cars.

Hey Jillie,

There are companies that strictly haul cars from location to location.  That is how I got my car from Florida to California when I moved back here in 1999.  Just do a google search for car carrier/moving companies and you should be able to come up with one.

Word of advice, however, they are not cheap.  It cost me in 1999 over $800 to have my car shipped and it took about 10 days for it to get to me.  It was worth it to me though because I did not want to drive it myself.

Happy hunting...

Hi,
I am a senior administrative assistant at a junior high school in Anaheim.  I'm the principal's boss, lol!  I have been with the school district for 10 years, previously I worked in the medical/insurance fields.

Wow as usual this is a good thread Diane.....

As for me, I am Licenesed Vocational Nurse that is currently out of work. I went right into Quality Assurance as an LVN right out of school and didnt get the much needed clinical experience. I am in school going for my RN / BSN but thats still a year and a half away or so. Ultimate goal is to be in an ER or some fast paced facility.

To give back to the community, I am a Technical Reserve Police Officer for a local law enforcement agency and have been for the past 22 years. But, I have decided to retire form the public service forum and let the young bucks have at it. Just to old and worn out to chase anyone any longer.......LOL

Have a great day everyone

Rick

You are right Diane, this is a fun post and I will participate, but as a word of warning to the many who have posted here.  I would NEVER post the name of the company you work for.  I did that several years ago and it came back to bite me in the butt because of nasty, evil people who sometimes frequent this board.  Long story short, some people save every post that you make here and just wait for the opportunity to try to hurt you.  I got fired from a job because of just such a person due to a post I made about the people who I worked for at the time and what pieces of trash they were.  My employer was called and sent the post I made. In the long run, turned out to be the best thing that happened.  I got a months "vacation" on unemployment and I wound up in the wonderful job I am still at with more pay, better benefits and a much better atmosphere.  But as a word of advice, be very cautious and keep your personal info as vague as you can.

OK, on to me.  I am an accountant in the public accounting field and have been for over 25 years.  I prepare some personal taxes but my concentration is corporate and partnership taxes and financial statement preparation.  I am our Client Services Manager which basically means I am the go to person for our clients and bookkeepers when they have tax questions or bookkeeping questions.  Simpler explanation, I fix what they have messed up. LOL  I am a QuickBooks Pro Advisor so I solve everyone's QuickBooks issues.  During tax season it's a very demanding job, but the rest of the year is quite pleasant actually.  Of course, I still look forward to the day I don't have to work and can retire and become a bum.  That is my avocation in life.  I just want to sit on a porch in a rocking chair and watch the world go by. Basically, I want to grow up and be Maxine the cartoon character.

I do like my job and wouldn't know how to do anything else at this point.

OK, while I don't have quite the prestigious jobs most of you have, I will chime in. I am currently on Social Security, but hope to get off of it soon. I really dislike not working, uh like anybody like it. I started as a Mental Health Worker for the County of Los Angeles. I then gravitated to kids and went to work for Laidlaw Transportation. I was young and stupid to leave the county.  For the past 14 years, I have worked various jobs in customer service or client services, I worked for 4 years in Las Vegas as a hotel desk clerk and reservations. I truly enjoy helping people. Even though I turned 41 last month, I still have my dream of becoming a teacher.
Great thread, Miss Diane! What an array of occupations that are represented.

Hugs, love, & friendship,

Michelle T.
