I am so sorry to hear your mom received bad news, Ms Blues. Having just lost my neice to cancer 3 mos ago, I fully understand what you are going thru. I also fight depression on a daily basis; it's a mild case, but some days are harder than others. But with that in mind, you must still take care of YOU!
I am sure the emotional roller coaster is draining you of energy; which is why it is essential that you follow your post-surgery protocol. Vitamins, protein, eating regularly, drinking the fluids, all of the rules that your doc and nut have prescribed. You will be of no help to anyone if you let yourself become ill from neglecting yourself.
You and your family are in my prayers....and I hope you keep us informed. I always have a shoulder and big ears to listen! God Bless you, Ms Blues..He loves you!

Thanks for your kind words Nancy. You are right that I need to take care of myself to be better for my mother. I've been neglecting exercise and I know for my health and weight loss, I need that. I also know I get cranky when I am feeling run down and I know my mom does't want me to be cranky!
Thanks again!

Good Morning Diane and Cali Crew!
I am really perplexed right now, for some reason I am down only 2.2 pounds this week. I thought for sure it should have been more this early in the game. Its been 3 1/2 weeks. I know I should increase my exercise, but it has been so hot outside. Excuses, excuses. I wish I had a treadmill or something. I am going to have to call my surgeon's office, because I haven't gone #2 since last Thursday. I'm sorry TMI. I am very worried. My hubby puts his head on my tummy, and this morning he tells me... I don't hear anything. Usually its making all kind of ocean noises and stuff. I know I haven't gotten in the protein that I should. Due to moving, I had one on friday and none all weekend. I tried one last night and just couldn't drink it. Is one 8oz of protein enough a day? I am struggling with my water again, but I'm aware of it and trying to do better. I'm feeling so run down lately. I'm tired. Yesterday afternoon, I slept all afternoon. I don't do naps, so this was unusual. I didn't even feel this tired after surgery. I feel exhausted, but how? I haven't even done anything. Well, let me get my negative self out of here. Excuse my post for being so long.
Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
Hugs, love, & friendship,

Not going poo and drinking enough water have a direct connection. You really need to get down the water. How many proteins were in that 8 oz. That is what is important, how many actual proteins you are getting a day. Also you can mix it with crytal lite which makes it alot better to go down. Get a blender out and make a slush out of it. I can't remember who told me that receipe yesterday, I am looking forward to trying it. You have not had surgery that long ago, it take time for the body to heal and we are talking 6-8 weeks, so stopping stressing over it and relax. Get tha****er down. Also it's not normal for your tummy to rumble!
Love and hugs, Diane
Hey Michelle..
Girl.. you are only 3.5 weeks out and have had a major packing up and moving! There is nothing wrong about being tired and even exhausted after that. you had a major surgery and need time to recover!
As far as the constipation, i agree.. drink more fluids.. thats what should help you. I heard colace helps too but check with your dr. to confirm that.
Take care of your great self!
hugs,
Jackie

Hi Michelle,
I had horrible constipation for weeks starting around the 3rd week. I contacted my nutritionist and she suggested drinking hot/warm beverages like an herbal tea. She also suggested an herbal tea called "Smooth Move". This stuff has worked well for me. In fact I'll be having some soon. I bought it at Whole Foods, but other health food stores should have it. Also, exercise, even a small amount helps. If you're able try walking. This also improved for me when I was able to add cooked veggies to my diet.
I was tired quite a bit after surgery. It would hit me quickly too. I'd feel fine and then out of nowhere tiredness would come on suddenly. That still happens to me at 12 weeks, but not as often and I usually have done something stupid like work 12 hours in a day.
I hope it gets better for you soon. I know it's annoying to put with, but it's worth it!

Thank you msblues!
I will definately try a warm tea. I haven't tried that yet. I will see if I can find a Whole Foods up here in the boonies. If not, then I will wait until I go down the hill. Thank you for your recommendation. I feel better knowing that I am not alone. I will be keeping you and your family, especially your mom in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there!

Hi Michelle
Check with your nut or surgeon but mine said I could use Betafiber in my drinks after 2 weeks or when I started soft foods. All that protein and not much in the way of fiber will bind you up real fast. I had the same problem very early out and even now at 5 1/2 mos, still have to walk and drink my fluids to keep the movement going ;-)
