Hi all
Need some help figuring out which type of pill form works best with RNY.  I need to start taking Glucosamine again but not sure what pill form is absorped easier. Tablet? Capsul? Gel Gap? And before I start taking it again...has anyone got yea's or nay's regarding taking Glucosamine?  I have arthritis in both hands and Tylenol is not cutting it anymore.  Before surgery I took glucosamine and it helped with the joints.  Any and all feedback would be greatly aprpreciated!

Hi Nancy,

Just got back from my 3 month follow up at kaiser and this was a question.  The doctor suggested the glucosamine in a gel form or there is now a drink.  But they also informed us that the absortion rate is different for everyone one.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Delores...I bought the gelcaps without thinking...well, I did think...but then I thought I read/heard someone say that gelcaps were harder to digest/absorb and got worried.  Can you tell I 2nd-guess myself alot?  LOL  Too much thinking...I think ;-)  Thanks again!
And how did the 3mo checkup go??? Labs all good??  You look fabulous!

I take Celebrex for my arthritis pain, but I do take gelcap vitamins, a really high dose of stuff and I try and take a gel cap whenever, they just dissolve faster and seem to absorb better.

Sorry I can't help you out any more than that.

Hugs, Diane

Thanks Diane...you did help!  I was really concerned I wasted my money on gel caps...it's good to know that they dissolve better. Now I just have to figure how to fit them into the pill/vitamine schedule LOL  Thanks for taking the time to respond ^_^

Hope you are improving day by day....I know the LB Group is looking forward to seeing you Saturday. Just don't over do!!
Hugs

Im not sure about the pill form, but Target sells a water drink called Joint Juice that is pretty good.  It has Glucosamine added to it.   Since absorbtion is a concern, this might be a way to get some extra G in the water you are already drinking!

Thanks Rachel!  Going grocery shopping tonight so will stop by Target and check it out.  Liquid would be a whole easier...and help me increase my water intake...2 birds with one stone....  Thanks for the tip!
