NorCal WLS Support Group Kaiser Antioch 1st Wed/Mo Anyone?

Does anyone attend this group? 
I haven't gone to any groups but someone I know who had WLS said they wished they had the support after her sugery but the group met too far away.  I need to get plugged in.  I'm scheduled Sept 16th.  Getting excited but anxious. 
All of your before and afters are keeping me excited.  Thank you!!!!!

Hi Debbie...and congratulations on your upcoming surgery!  I'm not sure about the Antioch meeting but we do have a group that meets in Pleasant Hill/Concord on usually the 3rd Saturday of the month.  We just met at Chevy's in Pleasant Hill and next month we're talking about getting together at Mimi's (?) in Concord (?) You can see how tuned in I am LOL  Watch for NewBarb2 to post..she makes the arrangements.  Would love to have you attend!

Thank you for the warm welcome Nancy! 
I was invited by Barb but could not make it.  I was hoping to squeeze in a closer meeting before my surgery date as it was a written recommendation by the psychologist at my psych exam.  Hoping OH forum counts but I dont want my date pulled for not following everything to the letter.  I dont know if they would but dont want to chance it ?   Most people don't like showing up to a group where they don't know anyone.......was hoping someone from the Antioch Kaiser group was here, too.

I am assuming you are having surgery at Fremont Kaiser? With Dr Chu?  I had my surgery at Richmond Kaiser; and even tho I'm in Sacramento, I know of a couple of people who have Dr Chu in Fremont as their surgeon. Both are pre-op and just waiting and we attend a Kaiser group in Elk Grove.  I'll check with both of them to see what they have been told regarding support group attendance; I do know both had it 'suggested' they attend but not sure if it was 'mandatory'.

Hope I don't get into trouble here, but there is another website you can visit: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/gastric-bypass-support- kaiser-patients/.  Under messages, the site advises when groups are meeting and where.

I'll get back to you as soon as I hear from Steve or Sandi as to what they were told.  As I said earlier, I think Kaiser is beginning to encourage the attending of support groups but at the time of my surgery last March, they wouldn't give us any info where the meetings were! How dumb, right? LOL
