Tijuana ...I have heard you really get great value and there are excellent WLS surgeons there.  Yeh, I know...TJ...Yeh, right, sure.  But look into it.  Others can give you more info.

Actually, many surgeon do offer good prices for cash patients, including mine.

He does the surgery for most cash patients out of Rancho Cucomonga.  If you are interested in knowing more, let me know, via PM.  I was covered by insurance but one of my friends was self-pay with Dr. Owens and could be very helpful.

Greenbaum on the East Coast is likely your cheapest route in country, and a very fine DS Surgeon.

DO PLEASE CONGRATULATE YOURSELF on choosing the very best WLS available to date. Smart, savvy girl! That said, I would have no problem were you to seek out  Dr. Ungson in Mexico who's affiliated hospital is without peer with the caveat to check with your insurance about complications further out, and follow up labs being covered under the general category of malabsorption which need not necessarily be attached to your denied, or excluded WLS.

In CA, Peter Crookes of USC University Hospital is likely your cheapest out of pocket cash payout, but as he nears retirement, faces increasing internal pressures for cheaper WLS's. He only does open DS's, and frankly, he's more and more gone off the DS, and really makes patients convince HIM they really need this! His office staff is overwhelmed and understaffed- read TERRIBLE and you’re looking at long waits. Dealing with him and staffers demands you MUST BE YOUR OWN PERSISTENT BEST ADVOCATE! Still, an EXTRAORDINARILY PERSONALLY CHARMING MAN, and a capable, experienced surgeon.

If I can be of any further help, feel free to ask.

Lapiscropic procedures being your preference is quite understandable, but by no means the panacea so many make it out to be. Most DS surgeons making that claim still do a hand-assist procedure requring a smaller 3 to 5 inch OPEN incision to accomplish the measuring and manipulation in order to allow the gloved hand to make its way through the open abdomen in order to perfect this and the intestinal switch. Yes, indeed, there are additional advantages to lap procedures, I shan’t bore the readers with, but an open DS should not be ruled out as an alternative, given your stated restrictions and/ or desire for your preferred DS procedure.
