Hi Michele and Cali gang.  Happy Monday!  Yes, be happy...you are breathing!  Read a great funny quote this weekend: if you woke up this morning.. Great! You have another chance! LOL  So..make someone smile...or better, laugh.  ^_^

Had a wonderful time up in the foothills this past weekend...and I'm so proud of me!  I joined another couple, who walk Everywhere! for their morning 'stroll'....round trip of 4 miles from the camp ground to the store in Alta...elevation 3600 or so...so you know we weren't on no high school track LOL  We even stopped on the way back to camp and picked berries ^_^  Our weather was gorgeous so we sat outside in the meadow under a huge canapy tent carving and chatting away.  Friday nite was soup and salad nite for dinner, so I ate ahead of time in our rig and just took a small bowl of mixed fruit with the group.  Saturday nite was our big bbq...tri tip steak...sooooo good plus home made bread (of which I didn't partake ;-) and a whole bunch of wonderful salads (again, which I didn't partake LOL) and a huge pot of the best baked beans (ONE bite!!) I've ever tasted.  Funny how after months of avoiding sugars like the plague, the baked beans were toooo sweet!  I did break down and have 1pc of fudge...and that took care of any chocolate gravings I may have for a month!  Seriously, I was just amazed how sugary, sweet foods now are just too much...no side effects, which in some ways is NOT a blessing...but the sweetness was more than I could take.    Friday and Saturday nite a group of about 10 of us played a card game called '65' and as usual I ended up with the highest score each game...which means I was the Loser...of course I just passed it off and said I was already on the Loser's Bench...so it was apropo ^_^

And I admit, it was nice getting all the attention regarding my weight loss.  Most had not seen me since May and the reactions just fed my ego.  Everyone was so supportive and positive....and I had a chance to educate a couple of people who are thinking about having WLS.  Gotta be careful what you ask God for...he will give in abundance!  I had prayed that I could be of help to others who were considering the surgery...at least once a week someone, even someone I have just met, will want to talk and ask questions. (any one who knows my husband knows that it is LON who tells whoever will listen about my weight loss... I told you he can be embarrasing at times!)  It is a great feeling to see a person lose some of their fears regarding the surgery.

Sunday was a laid back day after we got home. Just emptied the rig, started the wash and then went to a couple of thrift stores to find small storage containers for lunch foods.  Watching the 5pm news heard about all the fires raging in California, the sad loss of 2 fighters in southern California, and a 265 acre fire up here in Auburn...wiped out 60 homes and business within 4 hours.  Not a large fire compared to So Cali...but the aireal (sp) views made it look like someone dropped a bomb.  All the families and fire fighters are in my prayers.  2009 has not been 'fire friendly' at all :-(

Monica...you are one awesome woman!  3days post op and you were posting after getting home!  My only question? WHO took the before and after pictures??!!

Janet, havn't seen you post yet..but praying your surgery was just as successful!  Take it easy and be good to yourself!

Diane..sorry you missed the LB lunch; I know they were all looking forward to seeing you.  You make me smile...and I'm very happy to see you are being good to yourself and recognizing your limits.  Makes no sense to cause yourself pain...there will be plenty of lunches and coffee get togethers down the road.  ^_^

Barb..you got that 2nd interview in just a few days....so what 'outfit' did you get???  I know you'll knock 'em dead no matter what! Keep us informed....I'm still all twisted up crossing body parts ;-)

I hope everyone has a fantastic week!  Just think! Next weekend is 3 days long....Yeaaaaaaaaaa ^_^
Hugs

Well Hell!!! My back is out again!!!!!!!!!So I am well medicated!!! And there is just so, so much to do around here it is taking what little sanity I had left and just pooping on it!! I want to get some work done outside but the back and the smoke are saying," NO WAY !!!"
Tomorrow I have an appointment in Modesto to have my eye exam and ordering new glasses, Horray!!!! Will also do my Costco run while I am down there.
As for the firefighters... May the Lord bless and keep them all safe. August has always been so bad for fires in our beautiful state. My Grandfather was in the US Forest Service for 36 years. And we never saw him in August...He was always working somewhere in Cali on a fire. As he got older and stopped running the line crew he would work in the camps. After he retired he worked in re-forestions and training the CCC.
Well,it is nap time for me I think. Have a great week everyone.

I had fun at Long Beach Coffee this past Saturday; a lot of regular faces, and a few new ones.   Today was the start of a new week, and it already sucks.  Apparently the A/C went off in our building, and hasn't been on all weekend.  So it has been a disgusting 91* in here all day, and the techs just finished fixing it.  Hopefully by tomorrow the building will be cooled down, and work can go back to normal.  UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!
