How long after Options class to get scheduled for surgery?
hi,
I just started my Options classes on July 24th through Kaiser Fontana. The classes are only 20 weeks. I was told in class that you could potentially have surgery as soon as 2 weeks after class ends depending on the surgeons schedule. We were also told that the 10 % is not required but is encouraged. (don't know if this is the case at other places) I have started losing weight to prepare for surgery. It makes it easier on you and the surgeon. So far I like the classes. If you have researched surgery the classes are a bunch of stuff you already know but you still learn stuff every class (at least I do). Well I hope everything goes well and I am sure that you will be able to get into classes soon. Have you gone to the Options orientation or do you have to wait?
Take care,
Nathalie :)

I went through options in fontana for 24 weeks. I started 8-27-08 and Graduated in the end of February 09 we had two extra weeks due to Holidays. I wanted a band and it was only offered at Harbor City Kaiser and I was finally seen for a consult 5 months later only to be told by the surgeon that the band was horrible and he didn't really like doing them unless he could remove it a year later. I decided to have the VSG done and the day the referral went in to W. LA kaiser I was called and was scheduled for a consult a week later. I Had my consult on the 27Th of Aug. and my surgery is scheduled for the 14Th of this month (they offered and even earlier date of the 9Th). It really depends on what surgery you want. If you want the RNY it is much faster because of the outside contracts with other facilities. If you want the band it can take several months because there are only 2 surgeons doing them for So Cal Kaiser. If you want the VSG it seems to move about as fast as the RNY for time to be seen and given a date. I did also hear that the classed were being revised to 20 weeks. I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions I can help you with
