I just wanted to share something that just happened in my life in hopes of protecting those around me.
My dad has had skin cancer removed from his face a ton of times, but yesterday it took a turn for the worse. They were removing cancer from his nose and kept having to go deeper until half of his nose was removed. He had no idea this was going to happen. So this morning he had reconstructive surgery done to repair his nose. It seems it went better than they expected because they intended on having to use cartilage from his ear to rebuild his septum, but they were able to use cartilage from the nose only.   I think his nose will be fine, but let me tell you, he was SCARED and very emotional. He now faces radiation treatments, so probably some rough times ahead.
Our relationship hasn't always been the best and after 27 years of marriage, he is JUST this past year or so, really given Mike a second look and they are actually getting kind of close. It's heart breaking in a good and bad way at the same time, so late in the game, but I guess better late than never!
Anyway, yesterday when my dad called me in total hysterics, he was so aware of how life can change in an instant and you never know what is going to happen next in your life. So keep that in mind and don't put off till tomorrow...
And PLEASE be careful with the sun!!!!  I know we all want to look good by being tan and it is no fun to be white, but is it really worth what it could cost you? And if you think the tanning beds are any better, think again!!!  If you must be tan,  use creams or spray tans. And if you MUST be in the sun, PLEASE use MAJOR sunscreen and reuse it again and again. Let my dad's vanity about his looks ( he admitted that yesterday) be a lesson to all when it comes to sun safety, PLEASE!!!!
Ok, off my soap box now, Hugg those you love and tell them you love them every chance you get!!!!  And in case you don't already know this, you are all VERY IMPORTANT to me and I couldn't imagine my life without all of you in it!!!! OH ROCKS and I am so grateful to God for the path my life has taken since my WLS!!!!
I love you all with the biggest huggs, Becky

Oh hunni, I am so sad for your dad. I am glad that the reconstructive surgery went well. So many people have been diagnosed with skin cancer lately. It is such a scary thing. I will keep your dad in my prayers. xoxoxo

Thank you for reminding us how important sun protection is.  Being so fair complected myself, I am always very cautious about the sun.  I never tan because I believe that it is not worth it.  I would rather be white and healthy than tanned and constantly worried about skin cancer.  My mom has had several cancers removed and so has my father so it does run in my family.  So everyone be careful with the sun this weekend.  Use a good SPF (I use 85 myself) and enjoy yourself!!

Hugs to you Becky!!

Wow, didn't know there was 85! I use 50, thought that was the highest.  I don't go in the sun very often, but always use sunscreen when I do, but it isn't enough. My dad uses sunscreen, but never wears a hat or anything.  Skin cancer is a scary thing for sure!!!!

thanks for the prayers and hugs sweetie!!!   bigg huggs

Thanks sweetie for all the good thoughts and prayers for my dad and our relationship.  It is so weird to see him so sensitive, but glad it came in this lifetime.   Old age had already started "opening" his eyes, but this really added to it!

bigg huggs and love back at ya

It sure is good C'ING LESS OF ME!

We could learn a lot from crayons:
some are sharp, some are pretty,
some are dull, some have weird names,
& all are different colors....but they

ALL exist very nicely in the same box.
