Didn't pass psychological evaluation

Hi Roberta
If it's any consolation to you, I have a freind in my support group who didn't pass the psych eval 4 times...that's right 4 times.  She started counceling, and eventually had her surgery.  She is now 1/1/2 years post op and maintaining with about 165lb weight loss.  When I asked her how she dealt with the denials...she said it was the best thing the doc could have done for her!  She knows now that she wasn't ready for the surgery...or the life afterwards..that she had 'issues' that had to be dealt with before surgery.

My advice to you? Look into the counceling, continue to work the program, exercise...and most of all, keep a positive attitude.  Everything you do now will help to create a new lifestyle after surgery...you will have in place the tools you need to adjust to a NEW YOU ^_^  Find a local support group and Attend! You are NOT alone on this journey; you are not the only one who has been denied the surgery (temporarily!) for what ever reason....we all want you to succeed!    Continue to post here...being among friends will help you thru the rough spots.  God Bless you and you are in my prayers ^_^

I failed the first one because I "had issues with food" and the therapist thought I should HAVE to go througha  6 month diet before I get WLS. The group she is part of requires it and felt it best. I thought I was a point where I might live another six months so I simplied called the insurance and asked for a second opinion adn got a referral to a different Dr at a different practice.

Passed !!

IF you fell you're emotionally ready for this as for a second opinion. If you get the same response there be more to it and you may want to look at those issues first

Just to update everyone, I called some therapists today and left messages, I'm looking forward to hearing back from them next week to get started on healing and the beginning of  my weight loss journey.  I don't think I would have felt this way if it hadn't been for all of you that responded to me with genuine care and concern.  I was ready to throw in the towel, feeling as though I failed somehow...now I know I am not alone and have made new friends that will be with me every step of of the way...Thank you again so much and have a nice labor day weekend.

Hugs,
