one more thing to worry over Bay Bridge!
My preop appointments are Tuesday and I have to be at the hospital at 6:30 am Wednesday for surgery. I have figured that since I go through the Caldecott tunnel and over the Bay Bridge that I could easily get to St. Mary's hospital in little over an hour. Now with the possible closure of the Bridge to repair a broken beam, I can't imagine what the commute will be like. I am thinking that I should try to get a hotel but I have to wonder if there are any even available due to this new twist of events. Anyone have an opinion or advice on this?
Hi Gail, I'd start calling around to the hotels to see if they have rooms available. That's the only thing I can suggest. Good luck hun.

My husband recently had hand surgery at st. marys, we live in modesto. We have made several trips over, we have also driven there from santa cruz coming in south s.f. and it was easy. you could take the san mateo bridge and do the same thing. we have crossed over that bridge early 4-5 am and there was no traffic. follow to golden gate and take the last exit in s.f. before the g.g. bridge and you are only a couple of blocks from st. marys. and then google it too.

Gail,
The "spirits" just have to throw one more thing at you, don't they? This little twist is soooo small in comparison to everything other hoop you have had to jump through.
Just get a motel and don't worry about it. That is what I would do. If you can afford it, get the motel two nites before so you can get used to the bed and get the second night's sleep if you don't sleep the first one. You'll be refreshed and ready for your new life.
Yeppers, that's what I would do. I will be thinking of you!!!

Thanks Jillie, That's my plan if the bridge doesn't get fixed. But the news tonight claims that they may be able to do it. I think the biggest hurdle is going to be that colace. I just had to drink a gallon last week for a colonoscopy! Bleh ick!
Jill, I can't tell you how much I appreciate your support.
