I used the pre-op time to try different types of protein drinks;  my tastes definitely changed afterwards, and there were several that I couldn't stand pre-op.  There are several bariatric sites which provide samples of various protein drinks, and they can use milk or water.

The protein shakes I used pre-op really helped to keep me from feeling hunger.  I also totally eliminated "white foods" from my diet and my cupboards.

I used the following schedule:

B:  protein shake, small banana, multivitamin

L:  1/2 deli meat/cheese sandwich w/mustard,

snack:  small apple and a diet snapple

Dinner:  A good weigh****cher's style meal with a focus on good protein.

evening snack:  popcorn (single serving), or a protein bar.
