protein shake question
Hi Nathalie, rather that using the protein you have right now, I have an opened 5lb. bag of Matrix 5.0 Simply Vanilla protein powder9it has a ziplock on the original package). I have lost my taste for it, but you could try it and if you like it, you can use it to supplement one or two meals a day. It is good until April 2010, I believe. I am in Fontana. Let me know.

Hi Nathalie.
Everyone here is so right.....You need to experiment with the different types of Protein before your surgery. I tried several types and the one that I found was best for me was the Nectar Protein. Comes in tons of different flavors (stay away from the Iced Tea flavor thats just disgusting LOL) and disolves instantly in water. You can get it at the Vitamin Shoppe or online. The Sugar Free Jello is also a great idea......I use it all the time. I went to Smart & Final and bought a pack of the 3 1/2 or 4 oz size serving cups with lids and make 2 boxes at a time. Easy and portable
Have a great day............Rick

Thanks. I had a nectar the other day... it was the lemonade and it wasn't bad at all. Also I just got some Vanilla from Katt so I will start having that tomorrow and I might have a little taste today. Thanks for always having good suggestions and being so supportive.

Hey Nathalie -
One other thing you may want to try is mixing in some sugar-free and calorie free flavoring to your shakes. The post about not adding fruit prior to surgery is right on, but you can add flavorings, as long as you make sure that they are calorie free and sugar free. You can use the syrups that they use for flavored coffees or even just extracts and it can take a chocolate or vanilla shake and give it a new flavor! I worked in a bariatric clinic for a long time and this tip helped many of them to get through the pre-op diet (they weren't drinking the exact same thing every day!!). I also recommend that you use ice and a blender as much as possible - it definitely makes the shakes more enjoyable.
Hope this helps! Good luck to you - sounds like you are doing great!
