IT's Terrific Tuesday!

I know it's evening, but I just wanted to check in quickly.  I'm working a lot lately, which is a good thing.  During the week I'm helping an ill mother take care of her home and her three children.

Then on the weekends, I'm filling in for people on vacation or taking a day off doing Home Health work.  Last Saturday, I assisted a wife in caring for her husband with cancer.  As if turned out, she needed help with getting dressed and preparing meals herself, on top of her husband's care.  He's been given less than two weeks to live by Hospice and I have to be honest, it was really scary taking care of him.  This was my first assignment like this and he is having a terrible time breathing and swallowing.  He kept choking on the water and food I gave him.  I was so afraid something would happen to him on my shift.  At one point he said he was having trouble catching his breath, so I sat him up and just held his hand.  It broke my heart.

I know, as a nurse, I will eventually have to deal with someone dying in my care, just not yet.  I got home from work Saturday night very late and just cried for this gentleman.

Then today I'm back to chasing the kids.

Yesterday I ran for 2-1/2 hours (9 to 10 miles) for my training and I just feel exhausted today.

So, I hope everyone had a great Tuesday.  Tomorrow I'm home doing laundry and packing some more.
