Last night my little one, Tyson, who is 4 years old wasn't feeling well and was sleeping the evening away on the couch. He woke up a little while later with a fever, so I gave him some Tylenol and he complained his head was hurting. I told him to go to sleep that God would make it better while he dreamed. All this was at like 6pm. He woke up @ 9 with a HIGH temp, so my hubby and I decided to go to the ER just to make sure.
Well, on the way out of our complex, HE HAD A SEIZURE !!!!! OH MY GOSH, I have never been so scared in my entire life. We had to call 911 and they rushed him to the emergency room. Come to find out, something I didn't know, alot of younger children before the age of 6 will seize when they get a high temp. They suspect he has a flu because of the headaches and body aches.
We are at home now but have to wake him about every 4 hours to make sure he is ok. It has been a crazy, VERY stressful night.
I would just like to ask that you guys keep him in all your prayers to recover as soon as possible from this sickness. I would so appreciate it.... he is my baby and my heart hurts to think of him like that again.
Thank you!!

I am so sorry that happened to your little one. It is scary when they do something like that because you have no control over it. I am glad that he is going to be ok. I will keep him and your family in my prayers today.
My great hope is to laugh as much as I cry; to get my work done and try to love somebody and have the courage to accept the love in return.-- Maya Angelou
OMG's Jennifer...I will say a special prayer for that little guy right now and continue for a quick healing. I have three girls (all grown up now) and I know when they were younger nothing is worse then when they got sick and helpless you feel. Hang in there Hun I am sure he will be well and running around before you know it.
Here is a angel coming your way...
Hugs to you....Michele
We went through that a month or so ago. very scary. The upside is he won't remember a thing about the seizure. Don't how it works but when they seize their brain somehow shuts down the memroy part and they have no idea what happened. All they know is they are incredibly tired.
Hopefully it will only be the one time

Hi Jennifer,
sorry your little guy and you had to deal with that. If it makes it any better, when I was that age and actually younger and until I was about 8 or 9, everytime I would run a fever over 101 I would have seizures. My parents took me to the doctor and they ran all kinds of tests. Only thing that came back with anything was that I had anemia. Anyway, I did grow out of it and it has not come back. I have passed out on occassion as an adult when I've run a fever, but no more siezures.
As my mom used to tell me, when it first started happening she would panic but after a few years of it, she'd just go with the flow. So hang in there, he'll be ok.

Jennifer,
That is a very scary situation. But it sounds like you and your husband were right on top of things. I know it was a stressful night. I will keep Tyson and your whole family in my thoughts and prayers. I hope Tyson gets well soon. Make sure you take care of yourself as well. Hugs to you my friend!

I can imagne how scary this was for you and your husband. My oldest, who is now 37, would run high fevers, 104-105 and scare the begees out of me. Only on 3 occasions did he have a seizure but one was enough to make me take notice when the fevers started to rise.
Lessons I learned were: 1) DO NOT give Aspirin to a child with a fever! It can cause Reyes Syndrome...you did right by giving tylenol. ^_^ 2) When I noticed the fever rising...I put my son in a tepid bath...not hot, not cold...just comfortable so his body heat would cool down. Sometimes I had to do this 2 or 3 times in a day but it did seem to help. 3) Strip them down to underware and place nothing more than a light weight sheet over them. My doc told me that it helped the body release the heat...covers only hold the heat next to the body longer.
Of course, all of you are in my daily prayers! I pray that YOU get some much needed rest and that you take care of you. I raised 4 boys...and taking care of just 1 when he was sick was enough to wear me out. Let us know how Tyson is doing...4 years old is such a special age...so much energy and so much fun!

Thank you ladies for your wonderful words of kindness and blessings. I really do appreciate it. Dad and I had Tyson sleep woth us last night, we were too scared something would happen in the middle of the night and we wouldnt know about it. Seems like I woke every 15 mins to check him and come to find out dad was too. His fever started to rise again around 5am and we gave him the motrin the doctor prescribed to us.
Right now he is sitting on the couch watching Yo Gabba Gabba on Noggin and eating lunch. You wouldnt even have known that all this drama happened last night.
It is a wonderful thing that he doesnt remeber a thing, but this is something I will NEVER forget. Just seeing his little body do that and hearing his teeth chatter like that will be burned in my memory forever. I do not wish this expierence on anyone, EVER.
Again thanks for all your ladies kind words and the tips, I really do appreciate it. Now I am off to take a nap in my AC, its hecca hot outside LOL.
