Did you Move to Lose today
Well did you move to lose today? Anything counts.......Gym, Walking, Running, Excercise at our desks........It all counts.
I think those girls wore me out on that walk last night. Did my normal routine on my Treadmill this morning and I am flat tired. 5 min warm up, 25 mins at 2mph at a 5% incline (tried 6% but didnt work for me) and a 5 min cool down...................I am beat
Met up with Kat and Jenji last night at the park and it was a blast. And we got a pretty good walk in on top of it all LOL. I am not familiar with the course but I would guess it was a mile or so. Next walk will be Friday due to scheduling conflicts. Anyone and everyone is welcome to come join us.
Thinking about changing my Gym Membership to 24 Hour Fitness.......Need to take this up a notch. Anyone have experience with them? Good or bad would be helpful.
Have a great Day........Rick

Hi Rick,
I walked the kids to school which is 1 mile round trip. That was it for me. I did contact my YMCA to inquire about the cost of becoming a member. I have an excercise cycle at home and a "gazelle" machine but I don't use them. I'm hoping that if I go to the YMCA then I can get motivated to work out at home too.
Have a great day.

No exercise yet but plan on going to the gym tonight. I have been doing 45 minutes on the treadmill (about 3 miles). Every other day, I do weights.
I don't have any personal experience with 24 hour Fitness but haven't heard anything bad.
I want to add some hiking in my life somewhere. I am looking for trails that I can take my dogs.
Enjoy your day
Kim

Morning Rick.
Because it is so darn hot here, I got my walk in early. 3 laps around the block (6/10 of a mile) so that gets 1.8miles walking. My co worker and I have stepped the pace up so now I'm at 6/10mile in 10 minutes...down for the original when I started walking 4 months ago which was 13minutes. I can do better on my treadmill at home but haven't been able to use that since our granddaughter moved in and now uses my workout room as her bedroom :-(
Hopefully, as the weather cools down, I'll be able to get another lap in and cut the time down further ^_^ At least I'm off my rear and Movin'!! Yeahhhh!
Have a great day...Nancy aka Sunray

Hi Rick -
I do my walking at night. I go around 7pm and if my husband walks with me we do about 9/10 of a mile in 25 mins. Last night I stepped up the pace and we did it in 21 mins. When my hubby does not go, I walk just under 2 mi. in about 35 minutes. I slow down for hubby due to bad knees. Regardless of the time it takes, I am out walking, and my husband is also. I have a treadmill and bike in the garage and they have not been used in at least 1+ year. Need to dust the motor and belt for treadmill. Hopefully by rainy weather this will be done.
As for 24 hr. fitness, my son uses it here in Lakewood. He really enjoys the gym and likes 24 hr fitness for all the versatality they have to offer with machines, classes, pool etc.
My son should be graduating in May from CSULB w/ degree in Kiniseology (study of muscle). I am trying to convince him that he should look into starting a program for the WLS patients (before & after) as there does not seem to be one or at least in our area. He was a personal trainer at BAlly's for a few months to get his internship hours and just HATED working there, and they way trainers actually train thier clients.
The problem w/personal trainers @ at a gym is that they are expensive.

Hi Annette
I cant agree with you more about personal trainers. Every one that I have dealt with expect us to go from 0 to 60 at mach 4 in 2.6 seconds. They just do not understand that we have been fighting our weight most of (if not all of) our lives and most likely have never had an excercise routine or set foot in a gym.
One of the steps of me becoming a Wellness Coach is to obtain my Certification as a Personal Trainer. I am only going to deal with weight loss surgery patients to help them reach all their goals. Dont know if it will work but has to be done.
Have a great day.............Rick

Annette, my daughter graduated from Cal State-Fullerton in Kiniseology a year ago...she just entered Mt. St. Mary's College, Doctorate of Physical Therapy program.
I hope the future brings more connection to WLS patients and their new bodies from these graduates....we are gonna be a whole new catagory of people with different needs not yet addressed. I have yet to find a PCP or physical therapist really knowledgeable in the needs of the WLS community, atleast at my hospital.
I think Kiniseology and PT students make good trainers...they know how the body works and are up on the latest info. My PCP is the head of Sports Medicine..his idea of weightloss and stiff joints is..Walk it off!!..lol

Hey,
I plan on walking a mile at work tonight when it cools off. I also bought a basketball to bounce while walking because let's face it... walking alone outside at my job kinda sucks. But I am really the only one that has the time to walk there everyone else has to stay at a desk. I figured if I was doing something besides walking like bouncing the ball it would help me pass the time better.

A friend of mine and I took a walk this morning around my neighborhood. About 3/4 of a mile...took a little longer just because my puppy doesn't have his stamina up yet...lol. Won't be much longer though and I'll be running to keep up with him! I walk that same route 2-3 times a day with the pup, so I still have at least one more walk to go on and will probably go twice more today.
